We booked the cabin two years in advance for the solar eclipse, not realizing at the time it was on the same property as Feather Hills winery. The cabin was distanced from the winery so we still had privacy, but could walk easily for a glass of wine or food. We were able to watch the eclipse from the deck of the winery, while enjoying live entertainment. We were delighted to find a bottle of wine waiting for us on the kitchen island upon check it. The deck on the back faced the woods, and was an enjoyable location to spend an evening after a day hiking in the national forest. The cabin was spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds. A minor issue was the lack of instructions for the televisions. There were 4 remotes for the living room television alone, and we were unable to figure out how it worked. I usually don't watch TV on vacation but we wanted to see the eclipse weekend coverage in Carbondale. Also, there was no cutting board and I had to use a plate to cut upon.

We loved our stay at cabin 5. It’s easy to get there off the highway and in walking distance to the winery. We ate dinner there and walked back after dark. A flashlight worked great. Cabin was perfect for 2 couples. Great privacy as there is a master suite on both ends. Comfy living room and plenty of dishes in kitchen. Kuerig and brew coffee. (I would bring your own coffee just to be sure as I was able to grab some at the winery bar). There is currently no wifi. I guess I missed that on the listing. The dish satellite was down while we were there so we had to listen to world series games on our cell phone, which was unfortunate. Randy was responsive and tried to resolve with Dish but that was out of his hands. All in all we loved it and will plan to return next year. Randy mentioned he hopes to have wifi by the time we go next time. Checkout was very easy and minimal things for us to do when we left. Highly recommend staying here.

The cabin was very spacious and well appointed. The cabin was very comfortable for 2 couples and could easily accommodate 3 couples or a family. It is close to many southern Illinois natural gems and wineries. Randy and Renee were responsible and flexible.

This was just what we were looking for in lodging for the holiday weekend. Each couple had comfy beds and their own bathrooms. Plenty of seating to share time together. Not too close to the people in other cabins, so you felt secluded. You could make meals in or go down the lane a bit to the restaurant. Great proximity to the wine trail and SIU. 👍
