The cottage was awesome. It was a little cosy home tucked away privately. It was nice to see chicken, cats moving freely. We were at ease - taking walks along the Avonriver, good weather. We had sunny days while we were here. Easy access for bus rides to the city centre, and and walkable to all the eateries and stores. Such a treat. We visited the St. Vincent De Paul a walkable distance. Found amazing things inside.

Avonview Cottage is a dream! Liesbeth and Ewout were amazing hosts and made my friend and I feel so welcome on our weekend getaway. I don't think you can find a better location in Christchurch if you're looking for peace and quiet, but also proximity to the city. We loved being able to wander along the Avon, just a minute from our doorstep. It was an easy 30-minute walk to town along the scenic riverside route, and even quicker if you took the direct route. Richmond itself has some great takeaway options, grocery store and bakery, etc. The cottage was really warm and the bed was super comfortable. Loved the home baking, the local recommendations, and hearing about the incredible history of the property. Thanks Liesbeth and Ewout! We'd love to come back one day.

My wife and I were visiting our son and his family who live near Avonview Cottage so it was the perfect location for us. The cottage was really cosy and Liesbeth and Ewout could not have been more friendly and helpful. More generally it is an easy 20 minute walk along the river Avon into Christchurch where there is lots to do and see. There is a hugh emphasis on culture and a real sense of community throughout New Zealand and I would encourage anyone to visit. There is no better place to start your adventure than from than Avonview Cottage! We plan to return just as soon as we can. Martin and Jill. Bangor, Northern Ireland.
