We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stepford Station Cottage - it absolutely exceeded our expectations! The area is absolutely stunning and a great base for exploring Dumfries, so peaceful. The house was immaculate and provided everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay. From the wood stove to the comfortable bed, all furniture and soft furnishings were of very high quality. You can see it’s a home that’s been created with love, albeit now for strangers (!) and all the personal touches to make it homely were beautiful. Some I think were possibly hand crafted or up-cycled and were really lovely. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough and we’d love to stay there again in the future. Cements our own dream of living in a similarly beautiful place and cottage!

This was our second stay here and already we are looking to book again! It is the perfect place to sit back and relax, the location by the river is perfect for our spaniel who thinks he's a seal! We love sitting in the garden listening to the river flowing by. On the last morning, as we sat in the summer house, a deer wandered along the riverbank which was lovely to see, we saw several red kites soaring above us too. The cottage is in an idyllic location with no neighbours and little noise. It's very clean and well equipped. Kelly is a lovely host who thinks of the little things and wants you to have a great stay, communication is excellent.

Lovely cottage in a stunning setting by the river, peaceful, secluded a great place just to relax. Dog friendly, particularly if they like a wee swim. Cottage has everything needed and is very well presented.

I had a truly wonderful three night’s stay at Stepford Station Cottage. Everything about the cottage is perfect - the location, beautiful decor and the many thoughtful touches Kelly has provided to enhance your stay - it really is a home from home. I needed to de-stress and this was the perfect place to do so. The riverside location and garden are idyllic and so relaxing, as were the walks from the door. Kelly was a wonderful host too, and I can’t recommend her and her beautiful home highly enough! Having two red kites flying overhead when we were walking up the lane was the icing on the cake! And I slept better than I have in years. I only wish my trip had been longer and will definitely return. Thank you so much Kelly xx

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stop again and ideally located for exploring the countryside. A river runs alongside the garden making for a very relaxing atmosphere in the garden. We weren't able to fully enjoy this aspect as we visited in winter however that just meant firing up the log burner for a cosh cottage.
