We booked Shirley's place to catch up with family in the area and spend time with our 2 month old grand son and his parents as we live 7 hours away from each other. Shirleys place was in a peaceful area, bush surroundings but only 5 mins from town which was great. Clean and tidy. Shirleys house is close behind unit. Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher would have been handy but the site does say they are not provided.

We spent 6 nights at Shirley's Campaspe Retreat and had a reasonable time, however it wasn't as peaceful as I was expecting, there was always something going on whether it was the neighbours kids zipping around on a quad bike (it was school holidays) or just comings and goings from the house next door. I was often woken up by the irrigation in the middle of the night and some strange pump? noise that sounded like it was coming from the roof possibly. The kids loved the pool and were in it every day, there was a good collection of toys for them to use in there. Shirley and her dogs were very friendly and were often popping by to say hello/ have a pat. Overall our stay was fine, I just expected a little more given the 'Guest favourite' and extremely high rating.

The place is absolutely beautiful, well maintained and exactly as described. It is quiet, peaceful and easily accesible to town centre. Shirley & family are wonderful couple who are friendly and nice.I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a weekend getaway.

Lovely stay amongst the gums. Comfy clean beds and easy check-in.
