Richard’s place was an adventure to say the least. Very remote and is hard to access, roads require a smaller 4x4 type vehicle to access with no problem. We made barely made it with a small Hyundai sedan because it was raining and it made the roads more slippery and the gravel more unstable. The scenery was amazing! Make sure to use a lot of bug repellant because the gnats are vicious. STOP AT A SUPERMARKET BEFORE HEADED TO THE HOME! Everything should be put away in the refrigerator because there is a bad ant problem in the home. The water pressure is very poor. There are minor things Richard could improve on to make this an amazing AirBNB, luckily the remote location made the stay worth it.

Richards place, once we got there, was spectacular. Communication in English was a little tricky, but his son was very helpful. Richard’s place in located about 10 minutes from a small town called Jayuya, which has lots of amenities such as restaurants and convenience stores. The town of Utuado is about a 40 minute drive on roads that are narrow, steep and has lots of twists and turns, so be prepared for this type of driving. If planning to use the outdoor cooking while there, it does use wood or charcoal, so taking that with you is recommended. Watching both the sunrise and sunset while listening to the birds and other animals was a favourite part of this location for us. The cows that were nearby were quite friendly and my kids enjoyed them immensely.
