Enjoyed our stay immensely

This was our second time at this incredibly special spot. The location could not be better and the house is very well equipped. We did not want for anything except a citrus juicer. We hope to come back next year if Joan will have us. For additional details, please see my review from last year in August. (I struggle with writing this 100% positive review, because I don’t want this very sweet spot to become unavailable to us 😉)

Great place to get away and enjoy the lake! We were able to bring our own kayaks and launch from the shared community beach. You are not too far from the conservation area which is great to kayak around. The swimming area was perfect for kids (mine are 7 & 5 yrs old.) The cottage was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook with lots of counter space. The location to everything nearby was great. We didn't have to go far to find hiking trails or ice cream, etc.

We loved this house and location. The house was very clean and the kitchen/ great room area is particularly fabulous. We had all but one meal at home and the kitchen is really well appointed with everything we needed plus tons of counter space. The power awning keeps the house cool in the morning. Two of the three bedrooms (the King and the bunk room) have AC. We would have loved it in the third bedroom too, because our first three days were some of the hot and humid dog days of August. Ceiling fans in the common area and bunk room were great and helped. While I know other reviewers did not care for it, I loved the firmness of the King mattress. I had the best sleeping nights. The Indian Point area has a fire pit and we made fires for three of the nights (buy your own wood). Plus we had the August full moon. Gorgeous. The Point is a stone's throw from the house. While the Point is shared by seven families we had it to ourselves during the week. Great swimming dock, sandy bottom with waist deep water inside the L shape of the dock, great for young and new swimmers. There is also a floating dock out a ways. The neighborhood is very quiet, the neighbors friendly. Joan was easily reachable and very responsive. The only inconvenience was the trash removal arrangement. You have to take your trash to the dump yourself and it's a 40-minute round trip. (Maybe there is an option to not have to do this for an extra fee?). Note that there are a number of outside steps to access the house and currently there is no banister (look at the last photo of the house to view the stairs, not the first pic). The outside stairs could be a challenge for an older person. At the entry, and inside there are strategically placed grab bars and a banister for the inside steps. For things to do in the area we highly recommend the Eco boat tour. 2+ hours on the water and very interesting ecological info. It leaves from the Grey Rocks area, where there is also a nice walking loop. The sculpted rocks are also on the north end of the lake and worth a visit. Overall, we loved our stay and very much would like to come back next summer. Thank you, Joan.
