We loved our stay at Pousada Esmeralda! It is a true B&B experience with communal breakfasts and guests from around the world. Plenty of space in the house for resting and enjoying the environment. Close to Pelourhino (walking distance) and the many shops and restaurants in Santa Antonio and Pelourhino. Best of all are Natalie and Marco our hosts. They did so much to help ensure we had a full itinerary and knew of any must see and do's as well as those to avoid. They are very nice and helpful Hosts. Ask Natalie about Arembembe and the TAMAR sea turtle project.

Absolut zu empfehlen! Nathalie und Marco haben sich mit der wunderschönen Pousada ihren Lebenstraum erfüllt und man spürt die Liebe. Die beiden sind die perfekten "Gasteltern" für Alt und Jung und geben die besten Tipps. Wir haben uns sofort zuhause gefühlt und uns jeden Morgen auf das köstliche (inbegriffene), selbst gemachte Frühstück gefreut. Alles sehr gepflegt, ordentlich und liebevoll eingerichtet, die Zimmer werden täglich gereinigt. Tolle Lage, nette Umgebung mit coolen Bars und Restaurants in der Nähe. Hauskatze und Schildkröte. Auf Wunsch gibt es Massagen oder kleine Kochkurse sowie Transfer zum Flughafen. Zum Karneval werden unkompliziert Kostüme verliehen. Für 20 Reais wird sogar Wäsche gewaschen. Als ein Gruppenmitglied krank wurde, haben die beiden sich außerdem ganz rührend um die Person gekümmert und sie mit Medizin und selbstgerechtem Tee ausgestattet. Wir würden auf der Stelle wiederkommen und werden sicherlich in Kontakt mit diesen superlieben und spannenden Menschen bleiben. Alle Gäste sollten sich auf Natalies Tipps verlassen, die allesamt perfekt waren und für wunderschöne Tage gesorgt haben. Ganz lieben Dank!! We can highly recommend staying at this lovely place! Nathalie and Marco realized their life dream with this beautiful pousada, and they make everyone feel the love they have for their house and their guests. They are both the perfect host (parents) for old and young. We could always ask them for tips and recommendations about what to do, which areas to avoid, where to get a nice dinner etc. The breakfast is homemade, included and absolutely amazing - we looked forward to it every single day. The whole place is orderly, well maintained and our room was cleaned daily. The location is awesome, with lots of nice restaurants, cafés and sightseeing hotspots close by. We also got a very relaxing, professional massage, and some typical Brazilian recipe tips as well as transport to the airport (for 90 Reais). Our laundry was done for 20 Reais, and we got some nice costumes for carnival for free. They even gave one of our group members medicine, when the person was feeling sick. We are definitely going to stay in touch with these interesting, caring and friendly people, and we are going to come back for sure! We highly recommend following Nathalie's recommendations - each and every single one was perfect. (They even got a cute cat and a turtle!) Thank you so, so much for everything!

merci Nathalie pour votre hospitalité généreuse, votre patience, votre pedagogie, votre envie de nous faire partager , comprendre , le carnaval, les experiences que l 'on peut vivre a salvadore de bahia ce fut un sejour chez vous très agréable et tres enrichissant par toutes vos explications les petits dejeuners sont top, fruits tropicaux, super confitures maisons, votre poussada est tres proche du centre historique , bien pratique pour se deplacer bonne chance pour tout

Fantastic place for those who want to discover the authentic side of the city. Marco and Nathalie know their stuff and will explain willingly whilst serving a (literally) fruitful breakfast. We couldn't recommend it enough.

I can warmly recommend this guesthouse. It is perfectly situated at the beginning of the historical center (pelourinho) and next to the mercado Sao Joaquim. The breakfast is very good, the home made jam delicious and the owners (Nathalie and Marco) are great. They give you all informations you need and help you in every situation.
