This exceptional historic home is a quiet haven in the midst of our vibrant downtown, located just steps from Wonderstate Coffee, the farmer's market, and other main street gems. You'll be close to everything you need, with the feel of being tucked away in a quiet cottage somewhere, with plenty of space to spread out and recharge during your stay. At the guesthouse, a bright, clean, spacious, and thoughtfully crafted place of respite awaits you. Comfortable, luxurious beds with natural linens, newly remodeled bathrooms, walls filled with local and vintage art, sunny rooms filled with plants, and native pollinator gardens buzzing with bees make the Guesthouse the perfect choice for folks looking for an elevated stay. The Guesthouse is a time-tested place of hospitality, being one of the original Airbnb's in the Viroqua area. It's also the personal culmination of over a decade of my own experiences of both hosting and being a guest, and was created to be the ideal home away from home I have found myself craving countless times as a guest on Airbnb. If you're looking for a cozier than average stay in a place that feels more like a countryside artist retreat than a hotel, this is your spot! Guests have their pick of 4 different second-floor bedrooms, with the ability to sleep 8 all together via king, queen, full, and twin beds. 1. The master bedroom has a king size bed, dresser, and full closet. 2. Next door, is the Green room, with a full size bed and closet space. 3. Across the hall is the Gold room, featuring a cozy twin bed (and amazing view of the Cheese Corner). 4. Last, you'll find the beautiful back porch bedroom, also known as the "Treehouse", with window-walls on 3 sides overlooking the backyard and our stunning elderly silver maple. This room has both a queen bed and a futon that can be made up by request. This room is seasonal, as it's separated from the HVAC system and is colder in the winter and warmer in the summer than the other rooms. But if you prefer particularly cool or warm sleeping or if it's the temperate in-between seasons, this is your spot! You also have two full baths, including a soaking tub and a toilet on each floor, a kitchen with everything you need to cook basic meals during your stay, living area, and indoor back porch for lounging. There is an absolutely lovely front porch and back deck for enjoying an outdoor meal, with a fully fenced in yard, kids' playhouse, and fire pit area. When we say there's room to spread out, we mean it! And again, the location just can't be beat. Inside the house and fenced in backyard, you might feel like you're in a European cottage in the woods, yet right around the corner, you can enjoy all the amenities provided by our vibrant downtown. Take a 60 second walk around the block and you can enjoy a farm-to-table breakfast with the best coffee around, browse the Farmer's Market for local treats and Amish goodies, pop into our impressive local library, or stroll the main drag of local shops and restaurants. There are lovely paths for walking in natural places a ten minute's walk or short drive away. Note: For those with certain sensitivities, we use all natural cleaning products in the house and provide natural-fiber linens, including cotton quilts and down duvets. Also, please note that though we do have highspeed internet, there is not a television or other digital entertainment options in the house, as we seek to provide a space more conducive to respite, focus, connection, and creativity. We often attract folks looking for more of a retreat experience, or those looking to unwind with one another off-screen. All to say: be sure to bring a personal computer if you want to relax with some quality Netflix time during your stay!
