Great place. Plenty to enjoy in the eclectically decorated home and lots of nostalgia for history buffs. Great location for river watching.

If you are looking for a comfortable room in an amazing location with the extra bonus of a hot tub, look no further. Cathy and Paul were amazing hosts who were extremely communicative and knowledgeable on a wide range of local subjects and history. Barnard House is an eclectic, artistic feast for the eyes with something interesting to look at around every corner and tucked into every historic and colorful nook and cranny. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and offered everything we needed including two absolutely delicious macarons and homemade artisan soaps. The bathroom had extras of the usual amenities in case anything was forgotten. We were shown around and got to explore the setting, a beautiful riverfront location and an absolutely amazing outdoor paradise of flowers, tables and chairs, riverfront firepit area and lovely decorated front porch. We very much enjoyed the clear, clean hottub just out back beside an amazing bottle art piece. The gourmet breakfast served was one of the best meals we've ever had, with homegrown produce and herbs, locally sourced coffee and delicious bread, homemade jam and beautifully plated quiche and fruit salad. Cathy regaled us with interesting stories of her past and the area and also gave us very good advice about local dining and points of interest. We will certainly be back and thank them for a magical stay!

Folks, at the risk of sounding like I am exaggerating, I am going to say this: I have not had an experience as wonderful as the one I just finished having at Cathy and Paul's home in years! I truly did not want to leave. This home is one of a kind; the love and attention to every single detail in this fabulous retreat made my stay magical. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and the company delightful. The view of the River was beautiful; you will not want to leave the front porch. However, the rest of the property is every bit as inviting. Again, I have never gotten to enjoy such a wonderful setting. I can't wait to return. I miss being there already.

Be prepared to fall in love with Emlenton, and your Innkeepers! This quaint little spot on the Allegheny river is filled with history; lively and informative breakfast conversations and warm hospitality! The best breakfast you will find in the area, is here! The walking and biking trails are most enjoyable. If visiting in the summer, I have loved to sip coffee on the porch early In the morning waiting for the fog to lift..always I spot a majestic eagle soaring through the river valley. So cool! Love the locally sourced foods, the fresh roasted coffee beans, the complimentary organic soap, and scrumptious macaron! 😋 To be delighted...
