We had a fabulous stay at Hackberry Hill. The location is perfect - beautiful, private and silent, but only 10 minutes drive to the ski slopes (and 15 mins into town). Lots of space around the cabin to play in the snow and the view over the river is stunning. The cabin is lovely and cosy, with a high spec kitchen. Very comfy big sofas. Worth noting the steps upstairs are very steep with big gaps between the rungs - not suitable for very young children or the less abled. Our kids loved the loft tho! Also to note there is only one toilet (downstairs). There is a washer dryer which is really handy. Tommi was really flexible with check out time which was a great help for the end of our holiday.

Great location on south bank of river, facing north, perfect for watching the aurora. Lovely out of town location so very little light pollution. Tommy met us for check in, was super way. Driveway was ploughed so there be no issues with snow blocking it. Really nice, new kitchen; great shower room and sauna. Lots of new furniture including very cosy couches. Couple of drawbacks which might be important for some people. Place seemed to lack airflow, windows not openable; I don’t think it had mechanical ventilation so some of our group woke up with headaches. I think an airtight, well insulated building like this does need more airflow. The beds were not good enough for the price paid. Upstairs they were basically mattresses on the floor. Finally, the blinds let light in so we were woken early. Value for money felt acceptable but not great. But maybe Rovaniemi is just very expensive. Overall we had an amazing time in Rovaniemi and enjoyed Tommi’s place a lot.

Amazing cottage in an amazing location. It's simple to get to with a car and it offers a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere. The cottage was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures and the host was flexible with check-in times. Highly recommended.
