Had a great time. Cool place. A bit quirky. You will need to budget your time because of the hour long drive on windy roads, much of it dirt. A message was placed on the side of the fridge that warned of the power going out with a degree of regularity. Our last night that happened, and it had not come back on when we checked out the next day. Pretty bad night’s sleep for CPAP users.

It’s a must stay

We were a family of 4 with two teenage sons and stayed 10 days in the farmhouse at Otter Space. This is a truely out of the way but beautiful area and the drive does take ~ 50 mins to get to the site but it is well worth it if you plan to stay at least 2 days (better would be 3 to 4 days if not planning to use as "homebase for the travels to the region). Onsite Otter space Hosts Wendy and Joe and owners brother Rick were great hosts as was Wendy and Joe's family! They were very friendly and responsive to requests, provided great information about the surroundings, shared in transportation to beach sites etc. along the river. Although it took our teenage boys a day or two to adjust to the no-internet/cellphone access, they then started to become very enthusiastic about where we were and what the area around Otter space had to offer and said ~6 days in "We have to come back here again". They loved the expansive outdoor experience with all the freedom it offered them as well as the company of the Host family and other visitors to Otter Space. a lot of unstructure activities are available there. We all enjoyed our stay there as well as excursions every few days to State Park areas in the region like the Golden Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon in the Prairie Creek State Park, Redwood National Park coastal trail to "Hidden Beach" near Klamath Rock and Jedediah Smith River State park (despite the long drive in and out of Johnson Rd". Wonderful group of people at Otter space, they should do all you can to keep their expert management there.

great place to get away ,host were very friendly,don't forget any essentials you'll need as far as water or food ,the round trip is nuts ,but all around I'd love to go back and due expect cold weather at night and bring your own coffee maker if you love coffee that's the only thing we forgot lol but great experience

This is definitely the road less traveled. A hidden gem deep in the redwoods. The weather was perfect- the landscape was amazing- next to the Klamath River. It is in a remote area away from others. So if you are looking to escape and chill- this is the place! Can be challenging to find since only part of the road is paved and the later part is unpaved. Make sure you travel during daylight because the few signs could easily be missed and you could easily turn on the wrong road. You should definitely have a vehicle that can handle the off roads. And- yeah- read everything carefully because you don't want to get lost that far into the redwoods. Remember you may not have any wi-fi for most of the travel to and from this spot- so be prepared and screen shot information you may need.
