All in all an okay stay - perfect for people on a budget, willing to stay a couple of nights near one of the most gorgeous beaches one could imagine. We stayed 5 nights at Dobedo. The hostel is located around 25-30 Minutes from the harbor and the city around it. It is located at the north end of the island, one minute walking distance from Otto Beach. The room we stayed in was very basic but clean provided with clean sheets and a fan. The private room could be locked, but I want to mention that the one wall of the room was not going all the way up to the roof, therefore we could hear more or less everything from the kitchen and the other rooms, which were located beneath us. The windows and other walls also did not close properly, which resulted in us having to use the mosquito net to provide protection from flying and crawling insects, which worked only partly. If you are willing to stay at this airbnb, be prepared to meet some insects like spiders, mosquitos and cockroaches. The kitchen and bathroom were clean and free to use for everyone, the showers were outside of the building. One more thing to note is that the electricity on the island is unstable and as Dobedo does not have their own generator, there is no electricity from 6am until 1 pm. Also the wifi is weak and sometimes does not work properly, which is a problem on the whole island though. The hosts were very nice and open towards us, therefore providing an excellent athmosphere around the whole hostel. The bar offers cool drinks as well as breakfast and dinner. Nevertheless breakfast and dinner sometimes will not happen, as the hosts sometimes had problems with organizing groceries to cook. We decided to have food at the resort closeby which was more expensive but still affordable and excellent. One of the strongsuits of the Hostel is that it is located 1 minute by foot from the most georgeous beach we have ever seen, including a bar and a restaurant from the 5 Star Beach Resort Yemaya, which is open to visitors and offers excellent food and drinks for reasonable prices. Also the wifi at the beach bar and restaurant is really good and free to use after drinking or eating something. All in all an average experience on our trip through Nicaragua. We can recommend this hostel to travelers on a budget, who don‘t need a special accomodation. If you are looking for a friendly athmosphere and a well located, quiet place while saving a couple of bucks, this is the place to be. If, on the other hand, you expect working wifi, different restaurants and bars every night, a bug-free stay and a shower with waterpressure, we would advise you to stay in one of the hostels around the city or in one of the resorts along the beaches.

The shaky photos do not show what the place really looks like, it's a big beautiful garden with flowers, coconut- and banana palm trees and different cabanas. From Dobedo to town it is a 20 min walk through the jungle, but only 2 min walk to the most beautiful beach on the whole island! The food they cook is nice and you can also use a kitchen on site. The people working there are friendly, funny and always there if you need anything. Open minded people will spend a great time at Dobedo. Would love to come back.

My stay at Matthew's place was phantastic... the bed is comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and Metthew and his family are very lovely and helpful. And its right at Otto Beach, one of the most amazing beaches i have ever been to... The only thing i didn't like so much, is that Matthew and his family were playing loud music most afternoons and evenings.. but thats my personal preference, i would have loved to just have the quietness of nature sometimes. And the WIFI was very unstable when i was there... in the mornings there is no power, so also no WIFI, but also in the afternoons and evenings it wasn't working most of the time, due to weather etc.
