The house I Cardellini is located in the seaside village of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri under the Municipality of Cuglieri. (West coast of Sardinia). The geographical position of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri, halfway between the north and south of Sardinia, favors the most varied trips to the island.
The village is inhabited throughout the year by about 500 people. Therefore, in no month the tourist has the feeling of being in a ghost village. There are some shops, including a pharmacy and a couple of restaurants and pizzerias.
Near Casa I Cardellini, at a moderate distance, there are other family-type houses with fenced gardens. Some of these houses are inhabited by locals, others are holiday homes like Casa I Cardellini.
The house is 200 meters from the most beautiful cove in the area called "Su Riu e Saide", with emerald green water and white limestone rocks. The charming bay of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri is a ten minute walk from the house. Its beach is made up of sand on one side and pebbles on the other side. The sandy part is particularly suitable for children because the seabed near the beach is shallow. In the center of the bay there is a slide for lowering boats and rafts into the sea. With a car you can reach many other beaches in the area, including the famous and unique beaches of the Sinis Peninsula formed by fragments of quartz and fine white sand. The main ones are: Is Arutas, Mari Ermi, Maimoni, San Giovanni di Sinis and many others.
15 km from the house is the Is Arenas Golf Course. 20 km away is Capo Mannu, much loved by surfers. 30 km away is the Phoenician-Punic-Roman archaeological site of Tharros.
In the city of Oristano (25 km from the village of Santa Caterina) there is the large Porta Nuova Shopping Center; in it there is Conad supermarket and about forty commercial establishments. The Center is open all day every day from 9 to 21, including Sundays.
The whole area has scenic beauties that preserve intact natural landscapes and the remains of old civilizations. Tourist facilities are modest and economic resources are scarce. Some neglect, any slight inconvenience that may be encountered along the way are the small price to pay to enjoy an uncontaminated and not too "civilized" environment, of a nature that brings back to its origins and that seems to constantly radiate positive energies. The village of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri is served by a bus that runs four times a day. The bus leaves from Oristano (25 km from Santa Caterina) and heads north, Bosa / Macomer and vice versa. There is a bus stop 200 meters from the house.
