Pieve A Socana · 整套民居 · 4室6床2.5卫 · 可住9人 · Casa Vacanze Pieve a Socana
Our house in Tuscany is located in the enchanting Pieve a Socana, a small village of Etruscan origin situated just a few kilometres from the art city of Arezzo and in the centre of the Casentino Forest National Park, an ideal starting point for walks and excursions. Whether it's an excursion to Lake Trasimeno (journey time about 1 hour) or a relaxing walk in the mountains to the Sanctuary of La Verna, there is something for everyone. The holiday house Pieve a Socana is situated at the entrance of the village. The stone building is over 200 years old; it was originally built as the parsonage of the Pieve, but lost its function over the years and became the property of the Zavagli and Dini families at the end of 1800. From the windows of the house you can admire the Catenaia Alps to the east, Poggio Maggio to the north and the beautiful Pieve to the south. Thanks to its age-old structure and the thickness of its beautiful stone walls, it remains cool even during the hottest summer days. Its position makes it perfect for a holiday in the beautiful Casentino valley. The house is very spacious, the fully equipped kitchen is on the first floor with a terrace where you can eat or just sit and read a book. On the second floor there are 4 bedrooms for 9 people (3 doubles and 3 singles) and 2 bathrooms. There is also a games room with a Tabletennis table and a Subbuteo table, as well as many board games and scooters. In front of the house is a small private square, perfectly shaded in the hot Italian summer.
We recently stayed at this beautiful property. Monica and her family, who also live on the premises, were very kind and helpful. Antonio communicated very well and was super responsive. We trust that all future guests will enjoy this special house where Antonio grew up.
Pieve a Socana is a village in the centre of Casentino in the municipality of Castel Focognano, one kilometre from Rassina.
The village, an ancient Etruscan site, later an important Roman crossroads and even later a rich medieval village, develops around the Pieve (the church). It was a very important reference point in ancient Christianity and currently one of the most beautiful villages in Casentino.
In the centre of the village there are two grocery stores, stocked with everything you could possibly need. There are also two pizzerias/restaurants, the most famous being "Il Mulino" with its training school for pizza makers and many prizes won in international competitions.
On mild summer evenings, life in the village explodes, the bar "La Pieve", in the centre of the square, offers beautiful aperitifs and a fantastic Italian atmosphere.
The small playground next to the church will allow your children to play and make new friends with the village children, who are always ready to play.
Casentino is a small Tuscan valley bordering Romagna. Crossed by the Arno, it grew in the shadow of Florence and assessed itself in the region an account of its peculiarities. It is defined as a “closed valley” due to it’s location and lie of land.
Steeped in tradition, it’s cultural vocation and interrelation with it’s surrounding nature are some of the aspects that still typify Casentino. Not by chance did it give rise to one of the most beautiful parks in Europe, the National Casentino Forest Park, inspirited by the Franciscan Sanctuary of Chiusi della Verna and Camaldoli Hermitage.
The valley consists of thirteen municipalities, whose fascination lies in their deep-rooted attachment to their old coats-of-arm with resulting traditions, culture and folklore. The eternal completion between these old turreted villages is unquestionably the charm of this colourful “closed valley”, a treasure-chest of priceless works of art and luxuriant nature.
A few hundred metres from the river Arno there is a cycle path that starts from Rassina and will allow you to visit the whole valley with your bicycle.
