Casa Pau is a private house transformed to a small guesthouse thought to be a place of comfort and harmony, somewhere to turn the mind off and awaken the senses towards our surroundings. In Casa Pau we believe in simplicity, sustainability and quality, and we have made every effort to make this place comfortable. Accordingly, our soul is expressed through a rustic but elegant aesthetic, with abundance of nature elements and reused objects adapted to meet domestic functions. The term “Casa d’Pau" is a local creole expression that alludes to the rustic nature of a place, where many elements, including furniture, are made of reused wood, trunks, and other similar materials.

Guest house de charme, superbe décoration. Berta et Rui sont des hôtes particulièrement attentionnés, accessibles et réactifs. Propreté irréprochable. Petit déjeuner fait maison, local et copieux. Cerise sur le gâteau : écotourisme engagé et solidaire. Je recommande la Casa Pau à 100% ! :-)

Casa Pau is impeccably clean, beautiful, and well kept. Of course, I spent a lot of time enjoying the island itself, but when home, I loved spending time in my room, as well as having a balcony and the communal house hammock to enjoy. The optional breakfast, if you get it, is extremely generous, and I took advantage of the environmentally minded extra touches - like having a reusable bag in the room to use during your stay. Thank you, Berta!

Santa Maria is a fishing and touristic town located in the south of Sal Island, and known for its long white sandy beaches with turquoise crystalline waters, and a wide offer of watersport activities, such as kite-surf, windsurf, or scuba diving.
Casa Pau is located in a very tranquil residencial area of Santa Maria, at 150 meters of the ocean. City center is 10 minuts walking, and around the area there are several small shops for groceries (1 minute walk). It is 2 minutes walk from the beautiful beach of Antonio Sousa, with warm shallow waters and variety of centers offering surfing, kite-surfing, SUP and windsurfing lessons and renting equipment. A diving center is located in the spot too.
There are several local places and restaurants to eat or have a drink around the area, specially in the frontline. A clinic and an optics center are also close to the house.
At the back, a nice short walk through the desert landscape will bring you to the wilder and astonishing beach of Igrejinha and Costa de Fragata, at the east of the island.
