Thé staff was absolutely wonderful — friendly, professional, accommodating, helpful, engaging! The premises are lovely and comfortable. The mattresses are super comfortable. The entire experience was exceptional. Barbara helped coordinate many experiences, including wine tasting and several cooking classes! She was fabulous to work with - she handled everything effortlessly so that we could simply enjoy our stay. The chef is fabulous! Twenty-two people had a spectacular, fabulous, trip of a life time. A truly amazing property!

David's villa is spectacular, his staff is exceptional, and the food is ridiculously good. I hate to use this Trip Advisor cliche, but the photos don't do the property justice. David and his team have renovated the buildings and grounds to something superior, in my opinion, to a sumptuous 5-star hotel. There is not a bad room in the house, the bathrooms and showers are glorious, the pool area is like something out of a movie (I swam laps in the olympic-sized pool to the smell of jasmine wafting from the 16th century walls). And you get to hang out in the magnificent kitchen and shoot-the-shit with Pietro, the chef, while he does his thing. Pietro is not only an incredible chef, but he exudes a contagious joyfulness. He and the staff make you feel completely comfortable in "your" kitchen, offering endless glasses of prosecco and homemade pasta-making tips. We ate our breakfasts and dinners at the villa, and all our lunches in wonderful restaurants that Barbara, the concierge (more on her later) booked as part of our tours to Lucca, Siena, and Florence. Pietro's food was as good or better than anything we ate in these exceptionally tasty spots. I would be quite embarrassed if you, who are reading this review, could catch a glimpse of my male pregnancy at this moment (two days after my stay). Three days before we left for Italy, I asked Barbara, the loveliest of concierges, to plan our week's activities (we were an ever-shifting group of 14 guests all arriving and leaving on different days). I put our group in her capable hands, and she organized superb, private tours and hikes with wonderful guides. She kept track of everything and everyone, and pulled it all off without a hitch. And speaking of keeping track of everyone, I wanted to give a shout-out to Taegen (hope i'm spelling her name correctly), who took the most exquisite care of us during our stay. Taegen is an ebullient Aussie who quickly learned our individual tastes and preferences and anticipated our every need. My only complaint was that she was so cool and we all wanted her to like us, so it made it hard for me to ask her for anything! Anyway, I fear I've gone on too long. I only want to give credit where credit is due, and extol the virtues of this tremendous place.
