Renovated farmhouse cottage in a pastoral village at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Located in a peaceful spot, just around the corner of Sibiu in the heart of Transylvania. The right choice for those who want to taste the breath of the past on the edge of civilization. ••• CASA LOPO ••• ... awaits you with an all around cosy atmosphere. This holiday farm is a good choice for whoever prefers a family friendly countryside retreat with the taste of bygone days, instead of splashing around in the chlorinated pool of a 5-star hotel. We have given the farm a makeover and devoted ourselves patiently to many details that sometimes woke up from decades of deep sleep. Our aim was to preserve the original historic charm best as possible, at the same time providing the minimum of comfort that can be expected even in an old Romanian cottage in the countryside. Our previous guests say that we succeeded. The holiday home consists of a closed courtyard with the plastered 3-room log cabin, a barn with a back garden, a terrace, and a cosy annex with double bed - perfect for teens who don't mind staying apart from their parents. The house is entered through the outer hallway and the kitchen between the two rooms. It is fully equipped for self catering with a gas stove, refrigerator, water cooker, toaster, coffee and espresso machine and, of course, plenty of dishes, spices, detergents, soaps, and other consumables. Since it was a bit dark, we gave the kitchen a ceiling window and - impressed by the light gain - did the same in the smaller bedroom. The larger room with a double bed and corner bench has 4 windows and adjoins the bathroom with washing machine that is entered through the hallway. You benefit from a fast internet connection via Wifi. In winter, you can either use a gas heater or light up the tiled stove which also supplies all radiators in the house via the built-in water pipes. We are not quite finished with the renovation. The main roof needs new tiles, the terrace wants a friendlier face, and so we will continue to devote ourselves to one or the other detail as soon as there is some time left. In the meantime, we will make sure that you always see the latest pictures here. At a glance ... • holiday farmouse for up to 6 people • 3 bedrooms with double bed • fully equipped kitchen • new shower room with washing machine • covered terrace in the courtyard • minimum stay: 2 to 5 nights (seasonal) • extra bed: € 12/ night • pet: € 8/night • discount from the 15th day of stay ________________________________________________ We offer more than just accommodation. On request, our cook provides breakfast or swings the wooden spoon. She conjures traditional menus fresh to the table. Also available are farm products from the village, such as fresh milk, goat or sheep’s cheese, forest honey and homemade jam, Zakusca, pickled vegetables, wine, and Schnaps. • Free pickup from Sibiu airport or train station • 2 proven, regularly maintained, private rental cars • Wi-Fi internet access, TV, maps of the area • Fully equipped kitchen for self catering • Bed linen, towels, soap + shower gel, spices, electricity, gas, firewood • On request: baby cot, high chair, mattresses • Excursion by horse-drawn cart along the wild brook and into the mountains • Guided hiking tours in the Carpathians, through Sibiu and other medieval cities in Transylvania with our partners.
Wunderschön hergerichtetes, altes Bauernhaus. Es war sehr gemütlich - auch die Kinder fanden es toll! Gerne wieder!
We really enjoyed our stay in this house ; renovated with taste and well equipped for even a longer stay. We would really love to come back soon, we did not have time to visit all amazing places that there is around !
We had a lovely time at Casa Vale. The house is incredibly cozy, they kept the original materials during restoration so there's a lot of wood, brick and stone that give the house a very warm feeling. The kitchen was very well prepared and had all the utensils and condiments that you could possibly need and the light in the kitchen coming from the ceiling window was very warm and made the house feel like home. The bed was very comfortable. The front yard is fully fenced and very private, we really liked that. We enjoyed spending time on the porch, having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. We asked lady Adriana if she can make us some food, she brought it over at the established time and it was all very delicious, I haven't had a tomato salad that tastes that good in years. The products from the village were also very good, especially the cheese. The internet worked very well, we could have comfortably worked from there if we wanted to. The drive to Sibiu was easy, about 20 minutes away, we went there during the International Theater Festival which is a great time to visit Sibiu and we also visited the Astra Museum which I definitely recommend. We definitely want to stay here again
A traditional looking house with everything we needed for our 5 nights stay during the cold month of January. Only issue we had was lack of wifi. But 5 days off the internet turned out just great for us. We had food brought over and it was delicious and on time (dairy products are brilliant!) - so try it out.
The pastoral village of Vale is nestled between the mountains overlooking the Transylvanian plain. The freeway is close by, bringing all Romanian sights closer to you, but Vale is still in the middle of nowhere. A tarmac road touches on the village, but it is mostly cobblestone roads and dirt trails leading up into the wooded hills.
Thus, traditional structures and straightforward hospitality still hold up in Vale. Horses, cows and goats are still part of the village landscape, and the farmers take up their scythes and plant corn, potatoes, and vegetables to provide for the winter.
Some say that the Romanian countryside appears frozen in time. It is unique and mostly untouched and the breath of the past touches you in every corner. Just make yourself comfortable on the hillside above the village, take a look in the vastness of the valley, and enjoy the thoughts popping into your mind out of nowhere. Maybe you'll sense the charm of the extraordinary, perceiving what life was like before it was levelled by the advance of civilization.
Until then, take a good look around. Heists and highway robberies are tales from the long-gone years of turmoil following the political change in Romania, and Count Dracula obviously exists only in movies. Most people in these parts are open-minded and very friendly when met with respect, and many of them speak English, making communication easy.
No matter which way you turn, you will experience amazing things - usually things you never expected …
.
Bus and train are running 2-5 km away in the small town of Saliste. We recommend a car if you want to be mobile for the many attractions of Transylvania. The highway is 5 km away.
There is a small shop in Vale. The town of Saliste 2 km away offers more shops, a farmer's market, a bank with ATM and an exchange office. Whatever is missing here can be found in Sibiu at the Cibin's Market and in retail or department stores such as Real, Carrefour and Lidl.
For dining out we recommend the restaurants at Saliste or Sibiel 2-3 km away. You can also order traditional menus of our cook, fresh on the table whenever you want.
自我介绍
I have been living in the village of Vale in Romania since 1998, commuting regularly to my second universe in Berlin. My Romanian friend and I set up a small villager-based construction company which is earning us a living in the surrounding villages. In this period we met some people at a wine by the campfire. They were on holiday and suggested to build holiday cottages on very good terms. After a short hesitation we started to work, and they became our investors. We were lucky with them. They demanded quality - and got it - and there was never any stress over money. So we could exercise our creativities, and everybody involved received wages well above local standards. Thus emerged a battle-tried squad of regulars; boys and girls who stand together even beyond working issues. Within 8 years we've built 2 holiday villas from scratch and revitalized the soul of 4 old farmhouses. With attention to detail all along, with respect towards the traditional style of the area, as well as with a view to modern building materials and contemporary housing needs. From the first day of rental in 2010 we welcome visitors from all over the world. Today we manage the cottages as a team. We share receiving the guests, doing renovation jobs, gardening, or cleaning, and incidentally we take on smaller jobs in the surrounding villages. I myself maintain our website and communicate with you. Vale is a tranquil spot to relax and hang ten; surrounded by the oldest beech forest of the continent and the unique flora and fauna of the Carpathians. On the other hand, it's a perfect base to experience Transylvania on your own. If you don't come by car, we’ll pick you up at the Sibiu airport or station, and a rental car you can get directly with us. Also available are groceries from the local farmers and traditional menus from the most dedicated cook this side of the Carpathians. Moreover we provide an authentic outing by horse-drawn cart along an untamed stream into the mountains. After all we’ll hand you a key and leave you alone ... ... unless you want us to tell you about the things you can do here in the mountains, in the valley or the old town of Sibiu, where to find a bathing lake, a cave or the closest fortified church in this special region, called 'Marginimea Sibiului'. We might have one or two tips at hand for you, but we also master the art of discreet retreat. See you, Werner
