A wonderful place where we immediately felt at home. Hosts were caring and made us feel comfortable right away. Rooms were very comfortable with great A/C. I would highly recommend this place when you stay in Baracoa.

Eva and Yoandro were the sweetest hosts ever. They took such a good care of us, I can't even describe it. They had someone wait up for us at the bus station at 1am (we arrived so late since our bus had broken down) and guide us safely back to their place. The food was super delicious, both the breakfast and the dinner we had a the house one night. And they always met us with a big smile. They were also very fair with pricing (food, laundry etc), in fact much more than other hosts. Instead of selling packaged water they gave us the possibility to get safe water from their water filter, so we could both save money and the use of single-use plastics. One evening we had a long and super nice personal conversation, which went way beyond anything related to our stay. This was something I had not experienced with any other host in Cuba. The morning we left they came with souvenirs for each of us. And since I had expressed some interest in music and learning Spanish they gifted me a book about "la Bayamese". The house is situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood, just a short ride from the town center and walking distance to the plaza de la revolucion. we had basically two whole studios in the top floor to ourselves and a nice veranda to spend the evenings. many many thanks to Eva and Yoandro and we really hope to meet them again.

Eva is a great host. When we arrived her husband made us his homemade soup and it was delicious. Breakfast was really good too and they obliged us greatly by providing lunch the next day. The hospitality was super.

El Retiro is a lovely casa in a residential neighbourhood of Bayamo, while only a brief ride with horse and buggy away from the town center. Prepare for pleasant conversations with the Bayamesas, and enjoy the laidback atmosphere of this lovely town. Eva and Yoandro are excellent hosts, who will welcome you with soup ‘de la casa’. Clean rooms, great breakfast and helpful hosts will make your stay very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Best place we stayed in Cuba. Wonderful warm and welcoming family. Very helpful and gave us lots of advice and tips for our travel. Very giving and warm people and lovely to talk to. Offered to pick us up from the station for free and also have WiFi at the house. A place where you really feel welcomed and feel a bit of Cuba. Would recommend and would stay again. Can’t say enough nice things, outstanding.
