We stayed 2 weeks with our 2 kids during a 7-months trip around the world. Fattoria Di Marena was the perfect place to rest and soak up the best of Tuscany. The appartements are very large and clean. The kids loved the many cats, animals and horse riding school nearby. The pool is huge but can get understanbly cold at the end of September. It was our second time in Tuscany and we were happy to discover a somewhat less touristy region: the Casentino valley. You get cute villages, monastery, wineries and castles. You also get mountains and many trekking opportunities in the nearby Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi.
Prachtige locatie; we hebben genoten van de omgeving en de boerderij. Het appartement was simpel ingericht maar erg ruimtelijk. Het zwembad is erg fijn en schoon.
Before our arrival we had a lot of troubles en worries, beacause our car broke down. We were even thinking about going home... So glad we didn't! We had a great time! So much to see and do at the farm and in the area... It's beautiful and we truly found rest and peace. Isabella and Fabio were always there when we needed them and our appartment had everything we needed. We hope to be be back someday!
We had a great time with our two children age 6 and 8. Lot’s of fun feeding the animals, nice pool, lot’s of space to run around, horseback riding classes next door, and great walks in the forest. The host were friendly but obviously very busy with the farm. We did appreciate that they have opened the pool a bit earlier for us! Thanks! I would definitely come back again.
From the farm, you can easly visit the tourist hotspots of the Casentino valley on the foothprints of S. Francis and Dante Alighieri, and spend most of your time exploring medieval hamlets, monasteries and ruins and the National Park and you can shop local products (Casentino cloths and Casentino hams and more...) We are always glad to help our guests and to give excursion tips (Tuscany, Umbria and also Romagna and Rome) to them.
THE NATIONAL PARK "FORESTE CASENTINESI"
lies on the northern Appennine crest between Tuscany and Romagna, where there are deer, wild boar, eagle and even the wolf. The Park covers an area of 36.000 hectares, mainly covered with woods of firs, oaks, beechs and chestnuts.
CASTLES, CHURCHES AND SANCTUARIES
Casentino is where the Arno river is born (then goes on to Florence and Pisa): the valley is shaped like a basket, with mountains all around. Here the peak of Monte Falco reaches 1658 m (5440 ft). Casentino is a deep-green land of Castles, romanesque Churches and Sanctuaries.
AREZZO
he Etruscan and medieval town of Arezzo is only 30 km away, is famous for the largest ANTIQUARIA market of the all Italy (each month, 1th sunday) for the marvelous old town where you can admire the Piero della Francesca masterpiece "The legend of the True Cross", for the Saracino Giostra (twice a Year) and for Benigni's "La vita bella" movie.
TYPICAL PRODUCTS
Casentino is a land of great artisan traditions: still today, they are an important part of the region, you can shop locally food and art crafts, like Casentino ham and Casentino wool cloth.
MEMORABLE RESTAURANTS AND FOOD
Casentino ham and "alla lastra" tortelli pasta, game meat, mushrooms and chestnuts , Cetica potato, Scottiglia and Casentino gray pork salami: a valley to be savored, and always with affordable prices

ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN
In addition to horse riding for children , in the valley you will find nice activities with donkeys, Adventure Park, bathing streams and Zoo park
FESTIVALS AND SHOWS
Throughout the valley there are many historical and religious reenactments, festivals and events sports (from rally to ironman), music and entertainment events, art exhibitions
Even if we are only 2 km away from the village, and 500 m from the bike-path, a car can be usefull.
COMING from Florence, the shortest way is SS n°70 that passes through the village of Pontassieve, climbs up the Apennines to the Consuma Pass and then descends to Poppi and Bibbiena.
COMING from Arezzo, you must follow the SS n° 71 which goes up the valley, skirting the Arno river (Capolona, Rassina, Bibbiena).
When you arrive in Bibbiena, take the road going to the village Hospital. After the Hospital go northwards (LA VERNA direction) for nearly 800 m; then you will find on the left a little road with the sign "SOCI" (a narrow road which goes down steeply). Take this and 400 m later (at the end of the slope) you will find on your right an avenue with rows of cypress trees. Welcome to Fattoria di Marena P.S. if you get lost, phone us!
