Place was little harder to find, with not much of cell signal around there..and original address pointed by AirBnb is wrong
Great place to stay to explore Sequoia National Park. Tent, comfy air mat, sleeping bag is provided!
The tent was in a nice spot on the property. It was a little bit further than I expected to Sequoia, but the drive through the Orange Groves was quite lovely and didn’t seem long at all. It was a great alternative to camping with a ton of people around.
"Heated tent" conjures up different images than a pup tent with a space heater. the space heater was plugged into a 100' extension cord and another extension cord, even longer, was along the property too. Seems like a huge fire hazard. There's a port-o-potty and camping shower (hose-fed, cold water) to use, but they're in the middle of a broken car/old RV grave yard that you have to navigate. There's a patio with a coal stove and a wood stove but I was told, "if you brought your own coal you can use it" by the owner's son (owner was no where to be found). Who travels with coal?? Parking for the tent is pretty far away, on the opposite side of the large property. So, you have to carry your belongings uphill & down the street and uphill again to reach the tent. If they moved one of the old RVs, junk cars or old port-o-potties, there would be more convenient parking adjacent to the tent. Once you get used to not being able to stand up inside the tent and come to terms with the fire hazard, the tent was surprisingly comfortable. I used my own sleeping bag & pillow so don't know how comfortable the ones provided were. It took 45 minutes to get to the national park; a lot longer than described in the listing. $50/night for a pup tent is way too expensive.
Overall, it was a great set up of a tent - air mattress, sleeping bags, heater - but I just felt it wasn’t worth the cost. I would have been happy if it was more like $30. Plus sides: The skies were clear and beautiful and it was a short drive to sequoia! Also just a heads up that if you arrive past the check-in time, there’s going to be a $10 late check in fee.
Quiet agricultural neighborhood on a private road. We are in the rolling foothills just 25 minutes from Sequoia National Park. Close to Kings Canyon, horseback riding and canoe rentals. Walking distance from the amazing Bump Piece Metcalf Metal art display. Near Project Survival Cat Haven.
Use your car or schedule a shuttle in advance.
