Phin’s place is truly something special. I came out here to experience the Catalina Mountains and that’s exactly what I did. The front view from the stay was literally the mountains. The sound of nature all around is captivating. Phin’s place is so calming and unique. The bed was comfortable, the decor was fun inside. I felt super safe traveling solo. Phin was so warming, he greeted me the first day and even reached out to recommend some local stuff to do. I will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is very quiet and secluded, but restaurants and stores are only about five minutes away. The mountain views are stunning. Easy access to Catalina State Park and Oro Valley. I had to work during part of my stay here and the wifi was sufficient for work and video meetings. Phin and Mitch were very welcoming and friendly hosts. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for something secluded and quiet.

Quiet and peaceful location at the base of a beautiful mountain range and just north of Catalina State Park. The guesthouse is full of interesting and eclectic mementos,, books, pictures, and art. It is truly an amazing collection. We enjoyed our stay but did find the shower difficult to use. It is small and has a stationary nozzle. A hand-held sprayer would be very helpful.

We truly enjoyed this peaceful, remote, unique place away from the hustle and activities of the city. It had so much character; interesting experiences, memories and history all captured in pictures, sculptures, books, trinkets & treasures! We were able to walk miles through the area, and experience the dessert with the beautiful mountains looming right in front of us. Our highlight was meeting Phin and Mitch and sharing our stories about our life experiences. We felt right at home with their generous hospitality and kind souls. We would love to return.

We had a wonderful stay at Base Camp! Our hosts were warm and friendly with helpful tips for us about the area. The view from the front porch was beautiful. We would love to return one day!
