My friends and I stayed with Bellanger during Labor Day Weekend, as we had a group of people visiting for North Coast Music Festival. Our original group had 9 people and due to the previous reviews left and the uncertainty of the neighborhood, our group dwindled to only three people to stay during our reservation. It actually ended up working out beautifully in our favor. The home is spacious and well suited for a large group, even though we initially didn't have as many as planned. The street was often quiet during the day and night. Bellanger has provided many security measures on the property including multiple gates/doors to be unlocked in order to get inside and cameras on the outside. This property and its centralized location allowed us easy and quick access to many parts of the city and suburbs. Bellanger was easy to get ahold of and did a complete check-in, walk through when we arrived as well as a complete check-out, walk out when we left. If you are open minded and enjoy being the change you wish to see in the world, you will stay at this property with no issue. If you are close minded and conditioned to staying in gentrified white neighborhoods, you will not enjoy this stay. It's all about your perspective. For the price and location, this property was perfect for our group. I look forward to organizing another stay in the city and will definitely stay with Bellanger again.

When choosing this Airbnb, I first researched the area and understood it was not the most suburban area in Chicago. As a group of people from Detroit, the shoot out at 5pm (15 mins after our check in) didn’t really bother us as much. Because we knew the kind of area we were in. The house was clean, good temperature, enough beds for everybody, and very spacious for our group of 5. Check in was 3pm-until, I informed Mr.Bellanger that we would be checking in around 4:45pm. When we arrived, he greeted us at the front door, but stayed for an hour and 30 minutes longer, making up beds, cleaning up, and changing his clothes. The check in process is extensive for an overpriced property, there are several keys for the property, and it is a long process to park and lock up the house when leaving and coming in, no self check in as explained in description. The beds are uncomfortable and full size, not queen size as explained in description. The description states washer and dryer is provided however when we checked in, he told us it was locked and unavailable. Furniture is tacky, random, and thrown together to make a “house”. By the end of the night we discovered car fresheners hanging all through the house. The main floor bathroom did not have hand soap in it, the hand soap container was filled with water (mixed with the remainder of whatever soap was in there previously). The children upstairs made a lot of noise throughout our stay; lots of jumping and stomping. Saturday, we were greeted by our unexpected roommates , a few mice. We seen one mice run through the kitchen by the stove and another one in the front room while we were watching TV. The bedroom I think is the main bedroom, requires a remote to control the lights, it worked to turn the light on/off Friday, but did not work Saturday. We used lighting from the dining room to get dressed. This was a last minute rental due to our last reservation being double booked. Our time in Chicago was great but not so much our place to call home for the weekend.

Looks great inside but don’t expect to walk around the neighborhood safely. I’d advise using Google street maps for the area before booking. If you’re just looking for a place to stay then go for it but just know what you’re getting into.

Bell house accommodated me and my family well. The host was very attentive and professional. This brownstone is located on the westside Chicago so had i did my research i would’ve booked somewhere else due to the location!
