The stay was great. Gaia is a wonderful hostess. The only problem I had was the heat in August and the loud nightlife right outside the window. The combination made it hard to keep the window open at night. Locals and tourists are noisy all night long, but that’s because the location is so close to restaurants and bars. Made it easy to walk home at night and venture out in the day time. The room only has a small fan, but I believe that is advertised. It wasn’t bad for a stay in someone’s home. I often felt I had the place to myself. Enjoy.

Maria was extremely responsive, accommodating, and helpful. The apartment is right in the center of everything and has all that you would need as a traveller. I loved my stay and hope to be back soon!

My stay with Gaia was perfect. After a month I almost felt like a local. The location is right in the center, making everything very walkable. In a few minutes your near the duomo or Santa Croce areas, and even the more distant areas like Santo Spirito are very easily reached on foot. Gaia was very welcoming and friendly, all while respecting your privacy and letting you keep to yourself when you want to. She was very patient with my slow Italian speaking, even though she could have easily switched to English, which I really appreciated. If I have to give one remark, it’s that the room is located right above a night club, so you either have to keep your window closed at night (which can be quite hot in summer) or have to sleep with ear plugs (which I did). Loved my stay! Will stay at Gaia’s again if I ever return to Florence!
