Beautifully decorated farm house, accessed via a footbridge over a small lake. 10.000SqMt of stunning gardens with running stream and vegetable patches. Variety of outside entertaining areas. A large deck and view point. Plenty of parking space, electric gate providing security and seclusion. Santa Margarita is in a unique geographical location where the temperature varies so that one can take the sun during the day yet sit cossily around the lounge chimney at night. The farm has been designed to provide individual private spaces, whether it be sitting under the thatched roof bridge over the stream to quietly read a book, enjoy lunch under the huge old pine tree, or, have a BBQ on the ground floor of the open greenhouse area. The house is furnished using mostly locally sourced handcrafted materials with stained glass windows providing a peaceful ambience. In almost all parts of the farm one can hear the sound of running water. And last but not least our adorable cats provide some additional company. For those who like to dine outside at night there is impressive night time lighting which will be explained upon arrival. Please note that the closet space is restricted as these are closed and contain all our personal belongings. However, for any coats and other bulky items we can arrange for them to be stored in our private studio.

Amazing place, great host, very attentive to details and quick communication from Anna Maria. The finca is beautiful, very comfortable and very private despite central location. The property is also close drive to El Retiro town, close to the main road if bus is needed, but ideally have access to a car (rental) to be able to explore towns close by or check about getting driver/uber. I highly recommend renting horses for a 'cabalgata' close to town and checking out Medellin and surrounding towns as well. Anna Maria left us coffee, eggs, arepas, cheese, basics for first day breakfast, much appreciated. We wish we had had more time to spend at the Santa Maria finca and look forward to visiting this finca in the near future. Thanks a lot Anna Maria. Sebastian and Lisa
The house outside is like paradise, beautiful gardens, the pictures don’t justify the reality, Beautiful place indeed. Anna Maria help me in all I asked. she always responded to me fast. Liliana the housekeeper was sweet and very clean, she also cook very well. I miss the cats, Jack and Lico, sweet sweet cats!!!! Our stay was amazing, I highly recommend!!! My only suggestion to Anna Maria is to renovate the Master bathroom. The rest is of the house good. It has many different places to explore. Thank you Anna Maria your house is adorable.
Beautiful and cozy house in a peaceful setting, accomodating host, close to the airport. Issues we encountered were lack of closet space for a family of 8 which made our stay more uncomfortable, toilettes malfunction due to low water pressure.

Santa Margarita is located in a rural area between the towns of El Retiro and La Ceja. El Retiro is approximately 5 km away and La Ceja about 15km. Nearby destinations are; Llanogrande, El Penol, Guatape, Rionegro and Medellin is 35 min drive. It is one of the principle areas in Antioquia for trail runners, walkers, cyclists and motorcyclists. In fact all these activities are on your doorstep - 5 minutes walk out of the farm and the trails begin! If you want to get fit or train at high altitude (7,200 feet) this is the place. There is ample parking for cars and motorbikes to be parked within the farm, safely out of sight and behind a large electric gate and substantial bamboo fencing all round. Our neighbours are both local country people and city dwellers who have escaped the hustle and bussle of the city.
There is an infrequent bus service that passes the house, a commuter bus for the locals between El Retiro and La Ceja, from where other public transport -buses and taxis- can be picked up. However, having your own transport really is essential. Medellin international airport is about 30min away and we can recommend a reliable and taxi driver to collect you. I would highly recommend renting a car if you are planning on exploring nearby sights and towns at leisure.
