Monolocale molto comodo e nei pressi del castello. Molto fresco nonostante il caldo e l'afa. L'host è stata genetile e disponibile e i fichi come regalo per la colazione erano eccezionali. Consigliatissimo

For starters, Squillace is a beautiful old city situated in the center of a gorgeous green valley. I picked Caterina's rental because my family used to live in a village nearby before they left for America over a hundred years ago and I wanted to do research on my ancestors. The home was absolutely ideal for my wife and me while we were in the area and I can't imagine finding anything more comfortable in the area. When we checked in with Caterina's parents Salvatore and Rosalba, they were so incredibly welcoming. We were immediately ushered into their home and served coffee and cakes--yes, not one cake but four! Though we were ignorant to the beautiful Italian language, they spoke slowly to us and were patient while we translated on our phones. In the end, our communication was sufficient, and Rosalba informed us that she had made an appointment for us at the town hall of my ancestors home village on the following afternoon. That was more than enough, but on top of that she came with us to the village! She walked around asking everyone if they knew about my family, and as we've seen throughout southern Italy any person we crossed was super helpful and wanted to do what they could for us. They led us to houses and churches that might be helpful and gave us information on the village. None of this would have been possible without Rosalba. Then, we went to city hall and tracked down birth records for my ancestors and even traced my family back more generations than I've ever been able to find on the internet. Lastly, she took us to the church and the priest helped us looked through the ecclesiastical records. It was more than I could have hoped for and I'm forever grateful to Rosalba and Salvatore for treating me with such kindness. At the end of the day when we returned to Squillace, they prepared a dinner for us and we shared an amazing meal with our new Calabrian friends. We'd come to the area in search of family and we'd found exactly that! We will absolutely be returning and when we do, we'll be staying with them again. In the meantime, we'll be keeping in touch.

Sited in a priviledged stoned village, Caterina's place is a cosy studio in the medieval town, right below the castle. We had some issues to find the place, as there is no specific street name, but anyone in town can tell you how to get there with the indications provided bt Caterina and her family. Great place to enjoy rural lifestyle and amazing stone calas and waters. 100%reccomendable.

We came to find out about our ancestors and Caterina's parents were incredibly helpful in helping us navigate the language and surroundings. Mom and Dad were wonderful. They were extremely helpful and welcoming. They treated us like family. This is the BEST place to stay when visiting. They took time to even tour us around their beautiful city! BRAVO!!
