Gaucín · 整套联排别墅 · 2室0床2.0卫 · 可住4人 · La Ceramista - a lovely house with a great pool
Ceramicist Sue Binns and her architect husband Henry have created a delightful house in the heart of Gaucin, arguably the loveliest of all the white villages. The house is situated in a quiet pedestrian alley with parking nearby. It has great views from its several terraces and a lovely 8.3 x 3.5m pool. It sleeps 2-4 in two double bedrooms with two separate bathrooms. We have made the house comfortable and well appointed because it is more than just a holiday letting, it is our second home. Ceramista 2 is entered from the street through its own private courtyard, which links directly to the ground floor terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and the village. Here you can eat and lounge in sun or shade and think about whether you want to swim or not. From this terrace there is a stair (protected by a lockable gate) down to the lower terrace and the pool. The pool is 8.3m long by 3.5m wide and 1.4m deep throughout and lined in white marble plaster to give the water the gentlest aquamarine colour. The terrace and pool surround are of pale stone. The terrace is generous and has a covered area, where you can retreat from the heat of the day if you need to. There is a small vestibule in the under terrace, with a WC and basin and enough space to change. Please note that the house is in the middle of the village and we are close to our neighbours on each side. So, whilst the first floor terrace is private, the ground floor terrace slightly less so and the pool level is not private if neighbours happen to be on their terraces at the same time. The pool is not heated, but should be warm enough to use from early to late summer. Outside these times, it will be strictly a matter of judgement. We may use a pool cover for the winter months. Inside, the ground floor has a generous kitchen and dining area with plenty of space to cook, eat and relax. It is full of light from the big patio doors which open out into the courtyard. On this floor there is one comfortable double bedroom, with its own bathroom and walk in shower. Upstairs there is a bright and airy living room with great views of the village and countryside beyond. Outside at this level there is a covered terrace with space to lounge or eat in privacy, with the same wonderful views. The second double bedroom is also on this floor, together with its own bathroom. We often spend the winter months in Gaucin, so the house is well appointed, as we like it for ourselves, with good quality beds and linen, good pots and pans, a dishwasher and the essential brilliant Braun juicer. There are wood burning stoves in both the main rooms to keep the house cosy in the winter, as well as electric heaters for the bedrooms and bathrooms. There are loungers and tables and chairs for the courtyard and terraces. We have tried to make the layout of the house simple and practical and the atmosphere bright and airy, at the same time as keeping the charm of the original. In this way it is easy to use, nice to be in and a great base for a great holiday.
Lovely home in a beautiful village. All perfect! Perfect for a relaxing break. Recommended!
Thank you very much and we hope we could stay another time in your nice house on autimn, winter or spring.
Gaucin is arguably the most beautiful of the white villages. It both tranquil enough to relax in at the same time as being sufficiently vibrant to be interesting and make meeting local residents or like minded travellers a distinct possibility. It has an easy rolling feel to it. There is a bank, numerous small supermarkets and a number of nice straight forward bars and restaurants, reasonably priced, where you can spend time without being hurried.
There are unparalleled views to Gibraltar and deep into Africa all around the village.
The countryside around is beautiful and is great for walking. The area is rich with chestnut and cork woods and host to many types of orchids. The area is good for year round bird watching. Being on a main migratory route, the spring and autumn are particularly rich times for birding.
The coast is half an hour's drive away and, outside of the peak months, there are some nice quiet beaches to be found.
You can buy everything you need in the village, so you don't need to have a car if you intend to stay within walking distance of the house. But for your arrival and departure and making the most of the opportunities the region has to offer, having a car is much more convenient. We always hire a car at Malaga Airport. Prices are usually very reasonable.
Parking in the village is free and on a first come first served basis. It is usually possible to find a space somewhere near the house. We can send you an information sheet about how to find the house and where the best opportunities to park are.
There is a daily bus to Ronda and a train station 8kms from the village, for which you will need a taxi. You can get a taxi to and from Estepona or Marbella, from where you can catch a regular service to Malaga and the airport. A taxi can also take you to Gibraltar airport.
自我介绍
Sue enjoyed a career as a successful ceramist with work in shops and galleries throughout the UK and abroad. Henry enjoyed a career as an architect and much enjoyed making the most out of the two houses in Gaucin. In 2021 they moved from London to Rowhedge in Essex, where they are considering their options whilst enjoying the estuary and the wildlife, including perhaps as many nightingales as Gaucin.
