We welcome you in a beautiful 16th century house located in the heart of a calm and shaded village, typical of southern France. In summer, the vast rooms of the ancient building provide a much-appreciated night-coolness in the Cévennes. A wonderful green courtyard offers an idyllic setting for meals. It is also there, or around the swimming pool, which is for your use only, that we like to linger in the sweetness of the night. Basic necessities are all at walking-distance from the house. Important notice : WE ONLY RENT OUR HOUSE FROM ONE SATURDAY TO ANOTHER SATURDAY according to the defined check-in and check-out time-slots. In terms of layout of the house, the house develops over 3 floors. 9 beautiful rooms are at your disposal. The 4 vast bedrooms with high ceilings all overlook the courtyard at the back and offer a soothing view over the swimming pool and the mountain. The large kitchen also serves as a dining room and offers a tiny lounge area. The house also has a living room, a library, a den as well as a small lounge. Note: the attic and 3 of the rooms overlooking the village square (see red hatching on the plans) are not accessible to the tenants. The plans that appear just after the photos give an indication of the layout of the beds, for which household linen is provided. On level 1, there is a 160 cm wide bed in the room with en-suite bathroom and a 140 cm bed in the adjoining bedroom. On level 2, all 4 beds are 90 cm wide.

Wonderful place to be. In between outings, we thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the house in one of the many places to read/write/work/chat. We had many meals in the wonderful kitchen, loved swimming in the pool in the enclosed courtyard, and being so close to the market on Tuesday and Friday. Many thanks!
The house was amazing and full of character and very cool in the summer heat. The pool area was lovely like a little “oasis” surrounded by wonderfull plants. The location was perfect with bars and shops nearby, they also have a local market twice a week which was nice to wander around. I would recommend hiring a car, we hired one for just 1 week ( of our 2 week stay) so we could get out see the surrounding towns and villages as the public transport is not great
Maison de maitre avec un charme vieillot, et beaucoup beaucoup de place. L'espace extérieur (coin repas, tour de la piscine) peut sembler limité. A l'usage, il est très agréable et suffisant pour 6 à 8 personnes.
Great, great, great beautiful house! Even better than it looked on the pictures! Super well equipped kitchen, perfect location (you enter the Monday and Friday market directly by walking trough the front door) , lush en beautiful garden, pool also great, boulangerie next door. Would def love to stay here again! We couldn’t find anything we disliked.

For information concerning Saint-Hippolyte du Fort and its vicinity, we invite you to visit the Piémont Cévenol website (Office de tourisme intercommunal du Piémont Cévenol). For information specific to Saint-Hippolyte, you will want to hit the tab on the left and select “Saint-Hippolyte”. This media however doesn’t necessarily systematically mention all the “ballades vigneronnes”, workshops of all kind nor the “concerts / dégustations” organized by the local wineries.
As the house is located inside the village, most shops are of course at walking distance, including a small supermarket, a chemist, a bookshop, etc. Not to mention the market that takes place in front of the house, twice a week.
In terms of parking, it is possible to leave your car either up front or in the street behind the garage, on market days (Tuesday & Friday mornings). Inside the garage there is space enough for a normal sized vehicle, plus a couple of bikes and a little this & that.
The nearest railway station is in Alès (35 km), from where you can take a train to Nîmes.
Nîmes and Montpellier, both at a one hour drive from Saint-Hippo, have the high speed TGV train running through.
Two-three bus routes allow you to go from Saint-Hippolyte to either Alès, Nîmes or Montpellier (for Montpellier you need to transfer in Quissac).

Après une longue vie nomade, extrêmement riche à tout point de vue, j’ai trouvé refuge dans la maison de rêves que je propose aujourd’hui à la location saisonnière. C’est une maison merveilleuse où je me retrouve avec moi-même. Une maison telle un cloître une fois que ses portes se ferment sur le monde extérieur. Une maison où il fait bon être quelque soit le temps ; avec sa cuisine conviviale où il fait bon être entre amis, tantôt au coin du feu quand le temps est maussade ou simplement frais, tantôt parce qu’il y fait naturellement bon en été.
