This place is just gorgeous. A lovely and very tastefully decorated traditional house in a very peaceful setting, with a lovely taverna and great hikes just steps away. Very well equipped, super comfortable and Jean-Marie is the consummate host - generous and responsive, and his recommendations on the island’s many treasures were invaluable. Whether it’s mornings having breakfast in the courtyard, the smell of lavender and the cicadas singing, or evenings on the beautiful terrace watching the sunset, this house is a dream.

Our stay at Jean Marie’s house was delightful. It’s such a beautiful home and so tastefully finished. We felt privileged to have stayed and we really felt in touch with Greece’s ancient past. We enjoyed spending mornings and evenings on the roof terrace. The kids loved the hammock. The mosquito nets over the beds were so necessary. We’d love to return one day. Kithira is a beautiful island.

We did have a wonderful stay in that typical greek house with fantastic remodeling and so interesting decoration. Jean Marie is the perfect host, very helpful : How to reserve a car, how to get to the house in details, restaurants, museums etc. We like the set up of the separated bedrooms at different places, giving privacy to everyone. One of the bedroom would fit better for young persons because little steps to access shower and toilets. The terrace upstairs is lovely and perfect for big gathering and "aperitifs". We love to have the Taverna so close in a walking distance by a charming little path from the house + good greek food. The hiking trail to access the water falls (none at this time though because of the drought) is right near the house. We visited the artist store (paintings and jewelry) and the herbalist (very knowledgeable) right in the village. The house is well located to access any part of the island. Now Kythera is on our mind...

Wir haben zwei wunderbare Wochen auf Kythira verbracht. Jean-Maries Haus ist ein schönes altes Ensemble, dass mit viel Liebe zum Detail und jeder Menge persönlichen Fundstücken aus aller Welt eingerichtet ist. Die beiden Patios sind ruhige Oasen, in denen zu jeder Zeit ein Schattenplatz zu finden ist und die Dachterrasse mit der Pergola ist zu jeder Tageszeit ein wunderbarer Rückzugsort. Der Kontakt mit Jean-Marie und auch mit Evi vor Ort war prima - Jean-Marie war jederzeit erreichbar und hat uns mit allen Informationen versorgt! Wir sind vielen seiner Empfehlungen gefolgt und haben dabei eine Menge schöner Orte entdeckt. Insgesamt war es ein toller Urlaub auf einer sehr schönen Insel!

This is a magical place on a beautiful island. You really do feel like you are taken back in time to a more simple, laid back place and time. Milopotamos is a small and charming town with cute shops with artisans and good restaurants. We booked the place for a wedding we attended in Agia Pelegia which is about 35 min. away. Once we arrived we realized that we should have booked a place where the wedding was being held as we were missing out on being close to the wedding party and the drive, while not too long, would have been cumbersome. Thus we reluctantly moved out after only one night. The place is quite special but there are a few things to keep in mind, it is a courtyard setting and so there was a main building with the kitchen/dining/living room and then another building with the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms was only accessible around the side. Not a big deal but as a family of four it would have been nice if we were all better connected. you also have to bear in mind that this is a very old building that was updated and so the bathroom and particularly the shower situation in the side bedroom is unique in that the shower is in the bedroom with no real separation. Not necessarily a big deal but after someone takes a shower the whole room gets humid. It is hard to explain but you also have to climb a few steps up and then down to get to the shower and I hit my shoulder and head on the low beam/wall. Anyway, just some quirks that do not detract from the beauty of the place, just be aware that you are renting a unique experience unlike any other and there will be some things that you may not be accustomed to.
