It's the nicest neighborhood in St. Louis! Great bars, great restaurants, safe, and everything's in walking distance!
The Central West End is a really great neighborhood for walking around and discovering bars and restaurants. Here’s a very abbreviated list of the things you might want visit during your stay.
The numbers next to the Restaurant name correspond to their number on the CWE map provided! Everything here is in walking distance.

Restaurants
Pizza
Pi Pizza (123)- Best pizza in St. Louis. Incredible food and drinks. Barack Obama flew in
Pi’s chef for his inauguration festivities, and that guy had a lot of chicago options.
Bar Italia (100) - Higher quality Italian restaurant.
Racanelli’s (95) - Pizza by the slice. Cheap, tasty, New-York Style pizza.
Jet’s - Really close to the house on Forest Park & Taylor. Alternative to Racanelli’s.
Mexican
Gringo (114) - The Mexican food equivalent of Pi Pizzeria. Great atmosphere and food.
Burro Loco - On Euclid right past Maryland. Great Mexican food.
Tortilleria (130) - I’ve never been. Tell me how it is!
Asian
Drunken Fish(112) - Standard sushi fare. Many crowd favorites.
Sub Zero (127) - A Sushi/Burger/Vodka bar. Surprisingly good, and has 200+ vodkas.
Thai 202 (98) - One of my favorites! Incredibly tasty, SUPER fast. Great Crab Rangoon.
Kampai (116) - In the top tier of St. Louis sushi restaurants.
West End Wok (131) - Standard Chinese fare
Breakfast & Brunch
Einstein’s Bagels - Not quite New York quality, but a decent bagel chain
Taste (128) - Incredible brunch.
Kopperman’s (117) - Jewish Deli with fresh meats and bagels. Really great breakfast.
Other
Bars
Sports
Bar Louie (101) - Typical American fare and bar experience. Big place, great for watching
Humphrey’s - College bar, open until 3 AM.
Dive
34 Club (67) - Old, local dive bar. You can smoke inside. Very cheap.
Jimmy and Andy’s - On Newstead to the right from W Pine. Unreliable version of 34 club
Upscale
Mandarin (74) - A rooftop lounge and bar. Kinda swanky and pricey, not quite a club.
Chase Park Plaza (70) - Nicest hotel in the CWE (Except for Harvest Home of course)
Gamlin Whiskey House (113) - Incredible selection of whiskeys and knowledgeable staff
The Scottish Arms - A bar and restaurant, 4 blocks east and 1 block south on Sarah. Great scottish food, knowledgeable bartending staff, and great scotch flights.
Grocery Stores
Schnucks - On LIndell, east of the house 3 blocks. Big Supermarket. 99% of groceries you need
Straub’s (65) - Super fancy, high quality grocery store. Pricey, but incredible high end stuff.
Shapiro’s - Tiny bodega. Has sandwiches, beer, toiletries - the basics. Around the corner to the left from the house on Newstead. Not open past 7 or 8.
Cafes
Coffee Cartel (52)- 24 hour coffee place. has bagels and donuts. Not great coffee, though
Cafe Ventana - On W. Pine 6 blocks East. Incredible coffee, amazing beignets and breakfast
Starbucks (56) - You know what it is.

The St. Louis Cathedral Basilica bus stops are on the same block as the house and can get you most places in the city fairly quickly!
A short 4 blocks away you'll find the Central West End Metrolink stop which goes all the way West straight to the airport, East to the Illinois Metro area, and stops at many major St. Louis attractions including Washington and St. Louis Universities, Barnes Jewish and Children's hospitals, Busch Stadium, Union Station, The Scottrade Center, The Edward Jones Dome (RIP Rams), Downtown, the Casino Queen, and Forest Park. There are many more stops as well.
Car is usually the easiest method to travel in St. Louis and apart from downtown, parking is usually easy and stress free most places you'll go. Parking is free on the street outside the house (and it's very safe, even at night!)
There are a multitude of options for dining and nightlife that are within 10 minutes walk from the house.
PARKING: You can park on the street for free, but read the signs for the two or three mornings per month when they do street cleaning. Parking is usually reasonable during the day, but around 4:30 the spots fill up fast as people get off work. Therefore, we do have limited spots available for a $5 reservation. We have a large Victorian home and limited parking, so request early due to limited availability.
From the Airport: At the airport you can hop on the STL metro link heading East (Airport is farthest West stop). You will get off at the Central West End stop.
