Mary’s place is magical. Breathtaking views over the mountains, olive trees shimmering in the sun, a jewel of a pool surrounded by flowers, the old cortico (farmhouse) lovingly restored with beautiful simplicity, and colourful and creative touches everywhere you look. Mary is an intuitive and thoughtful host, fun and interesting to hang out with while also sensitive to her guests’ needs for silence, solitude and space … all of which can be found in glorious abundance in this very special place. If you appreciate living lightly on the earth, Mary’s place is a showcase of how this can be done with simplicity and style: the most elegant compost toilet you’ll ever encounter, water carried in along the acequias (centuries-old water channels) and electricity from solar panels. Mary has a great library of books and you’re spoilt for choice for beautiful places to sit and read. If you’re someone who appreciates a simple, down-to-earth lifestyle, Mary’s place is as close to heaven as it gets.

Fijn, alternatief plekje, bij mooi weer meer mogelijkheden. Wij hebben helaas pech gehad en veel regen. Gezellige houtkachel, overdag een beetje donker (dit zal in de zomer prettig zijn voor de koelte binnen).

Fuimos a pasar dos noches con mi tía a lo de Mary y fue una experiencia de lo más agradable. Era justo lo que nosotras buscábamos, tranquilidad y naturaleza. Mary tiene el lugar hecho una maravilla, muy respetuosa con el medio ambiente lo que me pareció más que valorable. Lo único un poco complicado es que nosotras íbamos sin coche y llegar al lugar es un poco difícil porque queda por la carretera, pero tomamos un taxi en Orgiva y no hubo ningún problema en llegar con las indicaciones! Sin duda repetiríamos la experiencia. Muchas gracias Mary!

I loved my stay at Mary’s place. Quirky, kooky but everything you could possibly need for a perfectly comfortable & relaxing time. It may the first time you’ll stay in such a place but you won’t regret it. And you’ll leave wanting to return. And take the time to get to know Mary - she’s an impressive woman.
