We are located in Arusha, Northern Tanzania, in the natural paradise of the vast highlands between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. Our farm elevation is 1450m above sea level. We have a biogas plant on our farm that helps us produce gas for cooking and electricity. 100% of the energy the hostel uses comes from renewable sources and 80% of it is generated right at the farm. We use both solar and biogas energy and we heat our water with biogas heating system that produces zero CO2 emissions. We have cows on the farm for milk, yoghurt and biogas, goats for milk and fertilizer, chickens for eggs and fertilizer. Everything at the farm is organically grown with the use of cow manure (biogas waste) as fertilizer and herbs for treatment of plants. Here’s a list of what we grow at the farm: • 16 types/varieties of bananas that can be differentiated while on a farm tour • 3 types of avocados such as hass, fuerte, and kienyeji (local) avocados • Arabica Coffee which is famously grown in Arusha and Kilimanjaro in rich volcanic soil above 900 to 1800m above sea level. • Vegetables like spinach, lettuce, okra, celery, chayote, red and green chilli, pepper, tomatoes, leeks, mchicha, egg plants and tree tomato • Herbs like mint, sage, rosemary, parsley, dill, oregano, basil, chives, thyme, cinnamon and lemon grass • 4 types of Passion fruits (purple, yellow, giant passion fruit and sweet granadilla) • We also grow other fruits like papaya, mangoes, guavas, soursop and jack fruit (seasonal) Farm tour can be given while staying with us free of charge.
Very helpful organized airport pickup food good in interesting agricultural surrounds while still in the outskirts of Arusha. Friendly communal feel and very reasonable.
10/10 solo traveler experience. Above and beyond is the exact address where the Banana Farm is located. Great, careful drivers made coming and going easy. There is no way you will go hungry when breakfast and dinner are the freshest food possible. I never had such large healthy portions and so lovingly cooked anywhere. More than a dozen things to do, a karibu welcome from every person you pass at this sustainable village, and someplace to sit alone or with other travelers, this destination is a real rest cure. Repeat visitors were there for extended stays and already I have planned for my family to come here. So much to learn and absorb, clean floors and facilities, and hardworking hosts made me feel so at home. It was like I was being treated specially even though every guest was given the utmost hospitality and warmth. Saturday night's movie under the stars was a highlight, as well as the traditional cooking class. I had to leave and return and I'm on my way back tonight!
I first visited this Eco Farm in January by myself and was so impressed that I made immediate plans to return and bring others with me! Seven of us returned this August and the fact that I have been here twice within a span of seven months should speak volumes!! This doesn't feel like family or feel like home, IT IS home and family. When I visited in January I saw some of the development on the property, when I returned in August it was complete with more to offer! There are now more cabins, painting/cooking lessons & outdoor movie theatre. You must do the farm tour to learn about the Eco-Farm! I've always loved the fact that this property is locally owned and operated. The staff is amazing, especially Regina! Most of the food prepared is organically grown right here, including the amazing coffee. If you are looking for car service, to go on Safari, hike Kilimanjaro, go to Maasai Market, the various Waterfalls, Chemka Hot Springs, fly to Zanzibar, DON'T WORRY Godwin can arrange it!!
Peacefully neighborhood
It is not complicated to get to my home but since only big roads in Tanzania have names it could be a bit challenging. That's why i offer free pick-ups from down the road and for only $7 if you are in Arusha town! For small fees i can also pick you up from Arusha airport or Kilimanjaro Airport.
• Directions:
If you are arriving from Arusha town board a daladala (public bus) to Tengeru and ask the conductor to drop you off at Peace Point or Barabara Mpya.
From Peace Point it’s a 2km walk up the village road to my place. Start walking/driving from Peace Point going up the village road past a small hill to where the road forms a cross. There will be a shop on your left at the cross roads written KAKA SHOP. Take a left here at the cross roads and follow the road continuously till you arrive at our gate. When you are following this left road after the crossroads do not take any left//right small paths just follow the road continuously till you arrive at our gate which is roofed with coconut leaves and yellow stones on the gate.
There’s also an option to take a motorbike down the road at Peace Point to my place for only 0.35 Euro /0.44 USD to my place. Just tell them to bring you at NDOSI house.
You can also have your driver call me for directions.
自我介绍
I come from the Maasai tribe in Tanzania. I am an organic farmer and safari operator in Arusha . I run a 5 acre farm close to Arusha in a small village called Ambureni.I grow 16 varieties of bananas, coffee, vegetables and fruits like avocados, mangoes, passionfruits, jackfruit and papayas. 100% of the energy used in my farm comes from renewable sources mainly biofuel(produced directly at the farm),solar and hydro. In 2018 I built a biogas plant in my farm that can convert cow/human/kitchen waste into gas and electricity that in turn is used for cooking and light at the farm. My vision is to live a full, meaningful, and thriving life. I stay inspired and empowered by helping and connecting with others, using my character strengths, and following my passions. Love, kindness, and compassion are what’s important in life. The rest is commentary. I welcome you in Arusha,Tanzania and i hope you will have a comfortable stay at the farm. I’m
