What a beautiful, historic cottage. There was so much to look at and read. Our hosts were unbelievably welcoming and they even treated us to some delicious, home-made bread. We loved relaxing in the beautiful garden and watching the birds. We were so comfortable in the delightful accommodation that we wished we had booked for a month.

We stopped over at Tienfontein B&B on our way back to Joburg from Pletternberg Bay. It is very conveniently located just off the main road, but you feel like you have stepped back in time to another world. Located on a working farm, the stone cottage dates back to the 1890's and is set in a beautiful peaceful garden. We loved our stay in this quaint home, and enjoyed sitting outside around the fire pit looking at a sky full of stars! The large dining table was convenient for seven of us to enjoy a candle lit dinner. Alta and Eugene were warm and welcoming, and the sourdough bread that Eugene baked for us was absolutely heavenly! We were grateful that they permit dogs, as we had our dog with us. I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be booking again for our next overnight stop in the Freestate.

Sweet little historical stone cottage in beautiful surroundings. Alta and her husband are great hosts. A clever little fire provides good protection against the winter cold.
