You can tell that this very old cottage has been lived in, loved and enjoyed by family & their friends for many years. It is filled with many family mementos; their love of fishing especially apparent with fish decor everywhere! While it is hard to beat the view from the newly installed windows in the lovely front porch and the 2 bedrooms were comfortable, we felt the rest of the house wasn’t quite in condition for renting out to paying guests. The old furnishings are tired & the lighting very dim making it difficult to get comfortable to read a book. There was a very strong musty cottage smell and we suspect an animal had died in the walls. We did live-capture and release a furry friend that visited us multiple times a day. Perhaps the construction on the exterior allowed him to get inside. As described in the listing, the staircase is extremely steep with short steps making it treacherous to use. Once this house is finished being remodeled and improved, I’m sure it will be a gem.

We had a nice time here at his cottage. It had all the amenities we needed. The lake is nice, but there are spots with lots of rocks and some seaweed. I did expect this based on pictures and knowing how the lakes can be. The porch is being redone and has new windows, I sat here and had coffee in the morning. There was no work during our stay. My son enjoyed the upstairs sleeping area. which is also redone. The description is accurate in that this house is older. It is a typical "up north" Michigan cottage. The deck was nice to sit out and enjoy meals and the lake view. We did meet the hosts' family next door, and they were all super friendly. The dryer is old but works fine. The knob was somewhat difficult to figure out as it was broken. The shower head was different as well, but again, nothing that was a big deal. The only thing I would have liked would have been an instruction/information book for the house. Nice house and nice views of the lake!
