Causses et Veyran is a small village north of Beziers. It is a wine producing village that lies amid the vineyards of the Hérault department in Languedoc-Roussillon. The village is typical of this region of France with old stone houses, colourful shutters and red, terracotta rooftops softened by centuries of hot summer sunshine. The surrounding countryside tells the story of the village and the region. Everywhere you look, you will see vineyards, the origin of the excellent wines of Saint Chinian and Faugeres.
Causses et Veyran has a depot du pain, La Poste and a lovely bar/restaurant. There are many excellent places in the countryside and neighbouring towns where you can enjoy the cuisine and wines of the region.
We are near Roquebrun and Cessenon-sur-Orb, both popular and bustling towns which date back to medieval times. Here you'll find local bars, restaurants, supermarkets, butcher, banks, hairdresser etc.
Roquebrun has a 'beach' alongside the River Orb for swimming and is ideally located for many outdoor activities including kayaking nearby. Cessenon also has a great swimming section of the river. We are also only 30 minutes drive from a selection of Mediterranean beaches.
Roads are fantastic for cycling at any time of the year, with good weather, little wind and sparse traffic. There are also excellent off-road cycling tracks too. Hiking goes from gentle strolls through vineyards to more challenging trails in the mountains of the Haut-Languedoc Naturel Parc. We're happy to provide advice on cycling and walking routes.
We are in a micro-climate, with little rain and plenty of sunshine, even in winter. It has an amazing quality of light which provides spectacular sunsets over the surrounding hills.

You will need a car to get the most out of exploring this area. We are 6kms from the nearest supermarket and banks. There is a local bus which goes into Beziers a few times a day.
