Awesome place to stay and get away from the touristy hotels great tea Experiance

This is an island of refreshment in a sea of lush green. My wife and I are consultants working in Afghanistan and we desperately needed rejuvenation. Ollie and Laura met us on the big veranda when we arrived and provided us with just what we needed in the four days we were there. They are wonderful hosts. Our only regret was that we couldn't extend. The estate sits on a knoll overlooking a verdant valley with amazing sunsets to enjoy while you sip your gin and tonic. Even when the mist rolls in it is enchanting. Our bedroom looked out over the lush greenery and we slept with the door to our veranda open so we could enjoy the sounds. We recommend Ashburnham Estates with our highest rating. Definitely worth visiting if you want to be refreshed and rejuvenated.

Ashburnham Tea Estate was a last-minute addition to my itinerary, but it ended up being one of my favorite destinations during my ten-day trip to Sri Lanka. It was so lovely that I extended my stay from one night to three nights. The estate is well-maintained and well-staffed, with a personal cook who can provide cooking lessons and an on-site naturalist (Arvinder) who can take you on guided hikes. The cook, by the way, is brilliant, and prepared some of the best Sri Lankan food that I ate in the country, as well as one of the best quiches that I've ever eaten. The tea estate was a great place to unwind and relax. While I spent some of my time in the tea fields photographing the tea pickers and other days hiking and visiting a nearby tea factory, I was equally content sitting on the main porch of the tea estate -- where meals and afternoon tea is served -- reading and writing. Ashburnham sits high on a hill and the view from the porch is a sweeping panorama of the hills and valleys below. At night, the staff would light a fireplace in the main hall for the guests to enjoy. While it was primarily for atmospherics -- it was warm enough that a fireplace wasn't needed -- I greatly enjoyed it. The fire made the place seem more cozy and intimate. One thing that I wish I knew upfront: prices for meals/beverages, which were not communicated to me on airbnb or in person. Ashburnham should be more straightforward with their guests about pricing. In addition to the accommodation fee, they charged me the following for meals/drinks: $8 lunch, $14 dinner, $3.5 beer, and $4 mixed drinks. Breakfast was included. On the whole, a really great experience, and one I have highly recommended to friends.

This place felt like home from the first moment. Spacious and clean rooms. Superb view, friendly staff, very casual. Definitely worth to visit again. There is even a slide at the pool, that we had not expected and made this pool my daughters favourite out of 6, we have used during our stay in Sri Lanka.
