Firstly, huge thanks to the host who turned around a same day booking so we had somewhere to stay and also secured a fold out bed for us for the twin bedroom. This home was INCREDIBLE. It's very much an isolated location, so please ensure you have transport. Have at least a half tank of fuel when you arrive because it is that remote - we were prepared for this. There is a dishwasher which is excellent as we knew the dishes were clean and untouched, a washer, fully fitted kitchen with large fridge&freezer and the most enormous dining table and chairs that were not overbearing. Also a log fire in the lounge, truly welcome on those chilly cosy nights, which draw in early in winter. Bring your oodie and snuggle, we did! Host was also amazingly flexible when a storm had arrived on our departure and encouraged us to delay our leaving so the roads were safe - there was a lot of localised flooding. I cannot express how truly thankful were for this. Can't wait to come back.

A wonderfully located cottage close to a beautiful beach. Friendly area with some great places to visit and eat. Lovely hosts

This cottage has an amazing location. The beach is very unspoilt - you have miles of open sands to walk on and warm seas to swim in for the brief times the tide is in. The cottage is relatively small but well equipped, could just do with a little bit of tlc in some of the furnishings. But the bedrooms are pretty and the kitchen is good. Plus you have a lovely little garden. Within a short drive you can climb Criffel, or go to Rockliffe or Dumfries. And within walking distance, you can visit the Nearly Lost Gardens at Arbigland House, walk to Southerness for fish and chips, or up to the Steamboat Inn (a 9km round trip). Great for our family - three kids plus dog - but we were amazingly lucky with the weather!

We were very disappointed by the standard of accommodation, lack of care and lack of attention to detail. 1. The property was not clean, which is perhaps the most serious issue given current circumstances. Cleaning had been completed in some areas, but not the upstairs bedrooms or the downstairs carpet. 2. The sofas were very old, seats were very worn. 3. The fridge door would not close properly, despite the advice sellotaped to the fridge door. 4. The beds were very uncomfortable. The pillows were terribly worn and very cheap. 5. There were two fake leather chairs in the property. One was broken, the other was also close to losing a leg. 6. There had clearly been a very serious recent leak In the downstairs bedroom. No attempt has been made to redecorate. 7. We could not put the heating on during the day. 8. The front door had no key. 9. There was no warning about the hazard caused by the satellite dish. 10. The Wi-fi was practically useless. 11. There was evidence of recent repairs, as the items used for the repairs and several broken items, had not been cleared away. 12. The owner did not follow his own Covid advice, the dishes were not in the dishwasher and the vacuum cleaner had been left in the middle of the floor. 13. The property next door is derelict. 14. The property was infested with spiders, beetles and woodlice.
