Our self-catering holiday cottages are located in the heart of one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of southwest France - The Dordogne Valley - making our cottages the ideal base for a sightseeing holiday in The Dordogne.
From the era of Prehistoric Man through the Middle Ages and beyond the Dordogne is steeped in history. The Dordogne region also formed the historic frontier between France and England during the Hundred Years War and this rich heritage offers a renowned variety of sights for you to discover.
The Perigord boasts numerous castles, churches and medieval bastides towns as well as beautiful stone villages and prehistoric caves, all set in some of France’s loveliest countryside. Explore the ancient town of Sarlat, or discover the castle Beynac, once captured by Richard the Lionheart.
The rich and abundant culinary tradition of the region ensures a wealth of gastronomic treats, and a vast choice of markets,shops and restaurants.
The Dordogne river meanders throughout undulating hills, forests and limestone cliffs with new discoveries around every corner.
In the heart of the Dordogne Valley, we are perfectly located for exploring ancient chateaux, beautiful stone villages and the world-renowned historic sights of Perigord including Sarlat where the ancient narrow streets burst with local produce on market day.
Discover the second most-visited site in France - Rocamadour - a medieval treasure that is literally hanging off the cliffs of the Alzou canyon. Enjoy the fun of canoeing down the river, which winds through breathtaking valleys. Visit the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, where extraordinary cave paintings (17,000 years old) tell the tales of prehistoric man.
Outdoor activities from hot-air ballooning to golf, hiking and cycling are all very close to our holiday accommodation.
The Dordogne is also a fantastic family friendly area, full of fun activities for kids. They can canoe or swim in the river, which is quite safe and shallow in the summer months. For kids in need of thrills, they can splash in a waterpark with slides, pools, trampolines & bouncy castles (15 kms from us). Or they can go tree climbing in La foret des Ecureuils where they can jump from tree to tree and dangle from a flying fox 40 feet above the ground! Step back into history at the castle of Beynac with its museum of ancient warfare - a great place to visit.
Finally, after a long day’s activities, you can choose from a variety of restaurants as the rich culinary tradition of the Dordogne offers many gastronomic experiences ranging from Haute Cuisine to traditional French food.

Arriving by air
Laborie is less than two hours from five airports. Four are serviced by Ryanair (Brive, Limoges, Rodez, Bergerac). Flybe flies to Bergerac,Limoges and Toulouse airports. Easyjet, Flybe, Air France, KLM and British Airways have routes to Toulouse airport. Driving times to us are:

Arriving by rail
The Paris-Brive direct service takes just under 4 hours and we are 35 minutes from Brive.
Alternatively, you can take the Paris-Toulouse service that stops in Souillac, 15 minutes drive from our location.
Rental car hire is available in Brive, next to the train station and rental car hire is also available in Souillac.
