Puntarenas, Osa Mountain Village · 整套别墅 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Jungle/Mountain Getaway
Getaway from the rat race and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountain/jungle. Our villa is perfect to explore the jungle's hiking trails, waterfalls, wildlife and plants. Villa is part of a duplex with a 1 bedroom with a queen bed and large closet, 1 bathroom villa with a shower. Villa features include tiled floor throughout, granite kitchen countertops, 4 burner electric stove with oven, a coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave, air conditioned bedroom along with overhead fans in kitchen, living room and bedroom. There is a covered exterior deck that looks out toward a pond and the jungle next to a bubbling stream (the stream will vary depending on rain levels) that we find to be extremely soothing feature to our villa. Wifi is available. No TV. There is a community laundry area where you can use the washers and dryers. The tap water comes from the property's own source and is perfectly drinkable. The villa is located on 750 acres deep in the jungle on the neck of the OSA Peninsula. It is a great spot to get away from it all vacation as well as to go on an adventure. As well as for long term rental. Property is located 2000 feet above sea level and because you are higher up than the beach area, the humidity is not as uncomfortable as well as the temperatures are cooler than what you will find on the coast and our experience is that at this altitude the community is relatively mosquito free. The villa is located in a small quiet community with so many opportunities for bird sightings. One of our family's favorites things are the sounds of the jungle - from the Howler Monkeys being your alarm clock in the morning as well as to tell you when it is nighttime, to the birds flying around, the flapping of the toucan wings as they fly overhead, to the catydids, the sounds of frogs croaking during the evening hours - all as a reminder that you are surrounded by nature. There are more than 200 species of tropical birds in the area. You start your adventure with the road up to the resort community from the Costanera Sur. You do want to be driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle or All terrain SUV (which is recommended for much of Costa Rica). It is challenging and is best to travel during the day. After the 15 minute drive up the mountain, you arrive into a resort community based on the sustainable concept. The community features a communal garden available to guests, a community center, bar area (that is open for community events and special occasions) as well as a swimming pool. At the bar area there is a ping pong and a pool table for you to enjoy playing. Bring your own food with you to prepare meals in the villa. Another of our family's favorite parts of our stay here is the garden area. We walk to the garden area and gather our own fruits, vegetables for our breakfast, lunch and dinner. We then cook in the comfortably equipped kitchen. If you don't care to walk to the garden area on your own, a couple of days a week there is staff that will gather items for you and leave it at the community center for you to pick up. But part of the enjoyment of staying here is being able to explore everything around you. There are many hiking areas to explore in which you will find various edibles to pick on your own. There are 3-5 waterfalls on the property for you to hike to. I recommend talking to others within the community for guidance on where to go to get to the waterfalls. Once you get to the waterfalls there are watering holes to wade into and enjoy the cool mountain water. Before you begin your hike, we recommend locating a walking stick along the way and be sure to where good hiking/water shoes. Speak to a local resident to find out where good animal, bird viewings are as well as what features within the community are available as things constantly change. OSA Canopy Tour is also nearby - a definite must do while you are on the mountain. It features 14 platforms, 9 cables, 2 rappelling stations, 2 suspension bridges, 1 tarzan swing. They will allow younger children to go. The staff is always pleasant and loves to introduce you to local culture as well as show you any animals or birds that they may notice while on the canopy/zipline tour. If you want to get away from everything (yet still have comforts of home) this is the place for you. If you want to have people nearby but still be secluded and have privacy - this is a great place for you. Looking for adventure - where there is endless walking and exploring to do - this is a wonderful spot. In fact, we have a 16 year old that has been coming here for the past 9 years now - we are very comfortable giving her a flashlight and letting her explore on her own (within reason, of course). She loves being able to go to explore on her own. This is a place all about getting away from the everyday hectic crazy life and relaxing in a laid back environment. I would love to have you stay at our place and experience what we love about the area. As well as you developing your own love for this jungle forest mountain getaway.
Very nice place. Quiet and off the beaten path. Enjoyed the short but intense hike to the waterfalls on the property. Toucans were prevelant hence the name. The tenants of the community are friendly and invited me to their superbowl party on my 2nd day there.
Un très bon rapport qualité prix appartement de 50 m2 avec piscine pas beaucoup de monde et la piste est très facile avec un 4x4. Vraiment tout confort. Ne pas hésiter
Read the description thoroughly. It's long and explains how far off the place is from the main highway. Not sure who to blame, AirBNB or the host, but the map shows a very tight circle located directly at the highway, and without thoroughly reading the description assumed that point was where the house would be located, as we were looking for a place near the highway merely as a place to sleep overnight, and jump off point to explore the area. Secondly the way point the AirBNB app gives either via waze or google maps is inaccurate by a good KM, which was very frustrating, as people tend to trust that information, and there are zero signs on the highway indicating where to turn to this place. My suggestion is to merely trust the KM marker given to you, until either AirBNb or the host get an accuarate spot on the map plotted out. That aside this place had the most complete kitchen of any place we stayed in CR. Very clean. Suprised there were virtually no bugs inside considering the location. The community itself seemed very cute, the neighbors were all very helpful with suggestions, though we didn't really have time to explore or enjoy it, as we ventured off site to explore. My only knock on the unit we stayed in was a moldy smell that was prevalent, but would dissipate once the A/C was running for a bit. Shower was good, WIFI seemed to work well. A 4x4 vehicle is suggested however we learned that within the last year the road have been redone, and it was not that bad a ride. Not sure how long the road will remain that good, as they are gravel but really good as of March 2018. We drove a mid size 2 wheel drive SUV with no issues. Just use your lower gears to get up the big hill and your fine. Overall I liked the place, and would return if I was looking to hang out in a peaceful place and planned on doing minimal exploring outside the community.
Extremely clean and cozy getaway, close enough to the beach but nestled in the jungle hills. Equipped with everything we needed, private and quiet. Stunning waterfall hike and wildlife on the property and friendly neighbors. Excellent service from start to finish and even included veggie delivery from the garden. Would love to go back to refresh and relax again in the future! Need 4x4 to get there, dog friendly.
We rented for one full month from Vicki. Positives were that the garden and fruit areas of the community were fantastic! Fresh produce delivered to the pool area twice/week was just wonderful! Access to the pool, the pool table, the ping pong table, music speakers and big screen TV was also great! The location of this particular villa within the community was great for us: during the day it was very quiet, no neighbors (at least when we were there) and we loved the secluded feeling. Negatives were that at night, even after 11pm (sometimes into the wee hours of the morning) the bar area noise did carry directly across a treed area and right into our bedroom window. We needed the window open for coolness but then the music/laughter would also come right in. :( The condition of this particular villa was that of a longer term rental apartment not a vacation rental. We discovered a few other rental villas that were available at that time of the year (April/May) within the community that were a little newer and for less money. These other options were only discovered once we were there though, through word of mouth. Vicki's villa was a very comfortable sized space: the bedroom size was excellent, kitchen too! And the little living room was just perfect for 2 people. The couch could use a little updating, not the most comfortable, but the 2 sitting chairs were excellent...we lived in those! The internet accessibility right from the villa was also excellent! Best we've had in any rental place the whole 6 months we were in Costa Rica. :) Overall cleanliness of the villa was only ok: the microwave had been completely missed, the bathroom had black mold in the shower that no longer comes off (that's a tough one!), the kitchen sink pipe was completely disconnected from the sink and spilled water all over the inside of the lower cupboard (Vicki did call in some help right away to help, but that sweet fellow was not suited to doing the job... we basically had to repair it ourselves), there was multiple cobwebs in almost every corner, and dead bugs here and there and in the window sills (note: it IS Costa Rica...things do get dirtier faster there, but still, things could have been vacuumed up and weren't). We rented only a month and overlooked many of these items, but as a vacation rental we feel that these items should have receive more attention before we moved in. The community is dwindling in terms of people living and staying there. So, the restaurant was closed and the grounds were very quiet. We were disappointed with the restaurant being closed but we are quiet people and loved that there were only about 12 couples living in and around the community overall. With most of these items, Vicki was very attentive and tried to help out, in a timely manner, to our concerns and requests. She responded quickly to...
The community is based on a sustainable eco friendly concept. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables around. Neighbors are mostly expats from Canada and the US with the workers in the area being Tico. It is a very quiet, secluded area. Many times you go to the pool and no one but you will be there all day.

Guest access
The property is on 750 acres - feel free to explore. There is a community swimming pool to enjoy. Enjoy the community center with bar area(that is open for special occasions and community events). There is also a community laundry room - you do need to provide your own laundry soap.
Other things to note
You are in the mountains and in the jungle. The WiFi is normally good but at times (normally in the middle of the night) it may go out. We try to have flashlights in the villa because it can get very dark at night and there aren't street lights. But we can’t guarantee that they will always be working. If during your stay you discover something not working please let the caretaker know so that he can arrange for repairs. Although the villa is well equipped and comfortable, this is not a 4 star resort with staff at your beckon call. We acknowledge that the villa does need some repairs like painting and eventually it will be done but in the meanwhile we feel that it gives the villa that rustic jungle vibe. Residents and guests need to have the Pura Vida attitude.
You definitely want a 4 wheel drive or all terrain SUV. The road from the Costanera (highway) is dirt and an adventure all in its own. Best to travel up the mountain during daylight hours. There is no public transportation up the mountain. Although we have had guests without their own transportation, they have been able to arrange taxis from town and coordinate with residents the occasional trip into town.
