We loved this cabin in Dubois! It was so peaceful with the river flowing in back. It is a drive to the national parks, but we liked being away from the hustle and bustle and it was east driving to both Yellowstone and the Tetons. Dubois is a great town with a fully stocked grocery store nearby and a rodeo on Friday nights in the summer! The pictures of the cabin do not come close to showing what a charming cabin this is!

The good, the bad, and the ugly-- As the title says, there were all three— let’s start with the good— this is a beautiful house with a lovely view- perched above the Wind River you can hear the water all night— the full moon reflecting off the water is stunning, the individual decks out the upper bedroom are divine, the red cliffs sublime- it really is a gorgeous property and place—and so private, we could walk out any door and have privacy! One of the main reasons we rented it— it is beautiful!! Which is where the good stops…… the bad? Well— our arrival wasn't good- between the unlocked door, the cars parked in the driveway, shoes on the deck and no address we weren’t even sure we were at the right place— the hot tub stunk and wasn’t filled enough to activate the pumps, it was also at 86 degrees- (we were able to get the stink out and the water to temp, we couldn’t find a hose long enough to fill it tho), the bathroom had shared shampoo etc that had not been cleaned since the last renter, there was toothpaste uncapped and spilled into the cabinet, the refrigerator had one full crisper drawer filled with beer, the dryer was filled with wet towels, and the place just was cluttered with drawers and cabinets filled with junk— the house notes said not to use the shower but to use one of the two tubs (there was only one), suggested that using the wood stove would fill the house with smoke and told us to take the garbage cans up to the highway from the last tenants- two full large garbage cans that we had nothing to do with…… he also claimed that we could see the Tetons from the upper floor- a flat out lie-- there were lights that didn’t work (a string of lights had about 3 that worked, other switches didn’t turn anything on)…… it was frustrating…… but that view, that privacy!! Which leads us to the ugly……. 3 nights into our 7 day stay we got an email at 9:15 at night (we are two women in our 60’s) informing us that the home owner and his son would be coming to stay in the “tiny house” that we thought was on the property so he could put a roof on a barn— turns out this wasn’t on the same property, but was so close that it was going to be very intrusive—close enough that the downstairs bedroom (with a lace curtain) was not private- there was almost no door we could go out where we wouldn’t be seen, the upstairs decks were fully exposed, and the noise of the construction was going to be glaringly obvious—on top of everything else we were quite upset- when I expressed my concern (and I’ll admit I was angry), I got the following email (at 3am)— "Assuming that you are not in an altered state of mind ie drink/drug and you stand behind these comments then yes. I would ask that you vacate the premises as you bring bad karma to what is a beautiful and spiritual place for me and my family." — we were stunned— I HAD said that if they were insisting on staying in the tiny house that we would begin to look for another place— but instead he kicked us out— he was quite insulting and nasty, accusing me of doing drugs and of planning this all along in some weird attempt to defraud him— quite honestly, he was frightening— we got up at 5:30 and packed up and left - with no other place to stay!! As a side note, we stayed in Dubois for another 10 days- we passed the house many times…… in the 10 days he put on maybe 10-15 boards….. this was NOT the urgent roofing job he had described- and to be clear, there weren’t even sides on the “garage” either, just a minimal frame—- Do NOT RENT FROM THIS MAN- he is a liar, a thief and a bully— Airbnb is supporting him, so we lost close to 2k in the process— just don’t do it……

As advertised. Great place for a group. Tons of space. We’ll appointed. Great hot tub and great scenery. Dubois is a fun little town with everything you need. Amazing hiking in every direction and the reservation is worth a stop for sure. I highly recommend for a getaway far enough from Jackson/Yellowstone area to avoid the crowds.

This cabin was everything we'd hoped it would be! Beautiful location and had all amenities you could need. Very peaceful and great fishing too. Easy check in and out.
