Quintessential and authentic family cottage, 10 min drive to the action in Kuressaare. Sweet yard with areas to relax, share a meal and play badminton. Within 30 min of our arrival a welcome bowl of freshly picked currants appeared on the step. Kitchen is dated but has all you need to prepare a meal. Maris was welcoming and helped make suggestions for our time on the island. We enjoyed dining at Hafen, making soap at Goodkaarma, and the spa/sauna at GOSPA.

Maris place is located a short drive (10min) from Kuressaare center. It’s cottage-like house with a beautiful garden and located in a quiet neighborhood. Maris was hospitable and helpful. Pros: House is spacious and nicely decorated Authentic experience Beautiful garden Nice area to e.g. bicycle around Cons: -A/C only downstairs (was quite hot upstairs when it was + 28 outside) but Maris provided us with fans -Kitchen equipment is old (most things functioned ok though) -Furniture and beds (and bedsheets) are quite worn out -The doors to bathroom and bedrooms don’t open/close without difficulty - The mosquito nets on windows/ door were quite worn out (I imagine these are easily replaceable:)) All in all we enjoyed our stay but in future we’ll probable choose some place with a bit more modern decor/ equipment. I would recommend the place for someone looking for authentic, relaxed and down-to-earth stay in Saaremaa.
