Located at the tip of the Rosmuck peninsula in the heart of the Gaelic-speaking (Gaeltacht) area of Connemara, Garafin House provides an unrivalled combination of comfort and peace. Gorgeous period features combine with modern comfort to make this a truly special place to get away from everything. Garafin House underwent a major restoration project a few years ago, retaining period features such as wooden shutters, original tiles and fireplaces, whilst adding details such as underfloor heating and walk in showers. Park up and enter through the back door into the coat and boot room, then into the well-equipped kitchen. There's an induction hob, double oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, food processor and more, plus plentiful cutlery, crockery and utensils - this is not your usual holiday let with one roasting tin and no serving dishes or sharp knives! We usually have a reasonable supply of spices, oils and seasoning available so you don't have to bring everything with you. There's a kitchen table and chairs for casual meals; for larger groups or entertaining the dining room next to the kitchen comfortably seats 10 and you'll find plenty more crockery, glassware and napkins etc. Off the dining room is the spacious master bedroom with gorgeous views, king size bed and large ensuite bathroom, containing a claw foot bathtub and separate shower. Along the light-filled main hall with it's original encaustic floor tiles, there are two more double bedrooms (one can be made up as a double or two singles) with ensuite bathrooms, both with walk-in showers. At the end of the hall is the drawing room, a large airy space with multiple sofas, chairs and areas for sitting. The large original fireplace, made of rare Connemara marble, provides a focal point and a cosy feel on a chilly day. The views across the garden to the sea are particularly lovely from the many windows in this room. There's a TV and DVD player in the far corner, plus a selection of books, games and lots of local information. Up the stairs from the kitchen, there's a large airy double room (king size bed, can be made up as two singles on request) which leads to a smaller bedroom with two single beds (plus cot), and a shared bathroom with shower. Multiple velux windows let in loads of light and there's a lot of space up here. This combination of rooms would be perfect for a family.
