We have stayed at Doug‘s place several times and always enjoy ourselves. This morning we opened the curtains to find three deer playing in the grand river in the backyard, so gorgeous! Doug is a wonderful host and his home is beautiful.

Doug's place was great, clean, and wonderful spot to lay your head down at night. The river was pretty from the window, we did not have enough time to appreciate it, in person, but it was serene to look out and see. Doug, was kind and accommodating, it was a little cold we arrived, and he had no problem turning the heat up. Even on the day we left, it was a bit colder out and I could already tell the heat was up, without asking, which was a nice touch. My parents slept well and I slept well. He even had a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, which I did not expect and brought mine from home, but it was nice they were already there and ready to use. I should also mention the popcorn. It's just as good as everyone says it is. If anything, bring slippers, the bedrooms are carpeted but no other rooms. There are some steps down and they were a little steep for my mom, not a complaint just an observation if you have someone that has difficulty with steps.

Treat yourselves and stay at this gorgeous, serene place. Your stay in the Lansing area will feel like a mini-vacation here. Need space for a couple of other family members so you’re not on top of each other? Are you an avid reader who’d love to sit by the fireplace in a really comfortable rocking chair & get lost in a good book? Would you like a peaceful contrast to the hustle and bustle of your other activities? It’s all here. We sat by the fireplace and watched a beautiful movie on Netflix (My Octopus Teacher) with resolution and a view of the underwater world, that I never could’ve imagined on our equipment at home. I spent time eating on Doug’s deck staring at & listening to the water right there. There’s an excellent array of thoughtful amenities - but you’ll have to find out for yourself. It was our second stay and hopefully not the last. Thanks again Doug!

My stay was peaceful, comfortable and relaxing. The space was immaculate, and had every amenity I could want and several I wouldn’t even hope to find in an Airbnb. Nightly fresh popcorn?! Decaf AND regular coffee?! A space heater and a floor fan “in case” I needed it (the temp was perfect so not needed, but my hot flashes really appreciated the offer). Doug’s hosting is in the upper echelon of hospitality. Did I mention the proximity to the river, the ease of getting to the overlook sitting area, the wildlife?! I hesitate to go on, in case everyone books a stay and I can’t find availability for my next visit to MSU (an easy 20 min drive away). Rarely do I plan a return visit WHILE I’m currently on my first visit, but this is one of those times. I certainly recommend this accommodation (just don’t book all the open spots, please!)
