Beautiful location and chalet!

Nous sommes ravis de notre séjour et des installations, véritablement un très beau chalet sur trois niveaux. Demeure chaleureuse, conviviale. Les points forts restent le garage pour 4 véhicules, la pièce à vivre avec la superbe cheminée centrale, la cuisine bien équipée et bien entendu la piscine avec vue sur la vallée, le jacuzzi et le sauna. Les connexions toutefois ne sont pas très optimales (vous nous l'aviez dit) et la chambre du RDC un peu sombre. Nous avons un peu galéré faute d'enneigement suffisant pour atteindre les pistes directement du chalet. Nous ferons la promotion de votre chalet si l'occasion se présentait. Having searched extensively for a mountain chalet that would be just right for our family reunion this summer, we were delighted to find Le Chalet des Envers in Le Grand Bornand. We know the area from when our boys were small, and it was great to return. We expected to be a group of 9-10, ranging in age from 18-73, so we wanted a place with a big living area for everyone to be together in, but with areas for people to have some quiet space too if they wanted it. We also wanted it to be beautiful with a touch of luxury. The photos of the chalet led us to have fairly high expectations and we were not disappointed. Le Chalet des Envers is absolutely stunning. Yet it is in no way 'over the top' - it is stylish but it is comfortable; it embraces you in the warmth of its wood, fur and stone. The open plan living area on the first floor is huge, as is the dining table, and the kitchen is part of this space (very important when you're the chief cook, as you never feel cut off). The kitchen is well equipped, offering fondue and raclette equipment in addition to everything else you would expect and there is a vast array of crockery and cutlery (so even a larger group than ours would never run short). We particularly appreciated home-from-home bonuses like the Nespresso coffee machine and the Sonos. The large central fireplace is another great feature - and with changeable mountain weather, this can be taken advantage of even in the summer! The bedrooms and bathrooms are all unique, with some fabulous touches. As an amateur stylist I found myself wandering around them all more than once just to fully appreciate everything! Meanwhile the rest of the family enjoyed the spa facilities, making full use of the pool, jacuzzi and sauna, and on the sunny days we all spent a lot of time on the deck outside. In terms of negatives I would say that the chalet is a little more remote from the village than I had imagined, but to be honest I didn't actually pay too much attention to that at the time of booking. It wasn't an issue, but it did mean that we had to drive into the village each morning for bread/groceries, and the boys were dependent on us driving them when they wanted to go anywhere. Geraldine is a great host. She was there to welcome us and show us all around when we arrived, and was on hand all week for any questions. She recommended restaurants and a taxi service, and even sent a text to remind us when it was market day. She has put a lot of time and thought into the refurbishment of Le Chalet des Envers, and we fully appreciated the result. We have been fortunate enough to stay in many beautiful places around the world, and this is a new favourite.
