Your hosts, Pia and Tom have owned this property since 2011, and have made this part of Italy their home away from home. Originally from Germany and Canada respectively, they have worked and lived in Vancouver, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Bonn. But they have fallen in love with the Calabrian people and the lifestyle, and have immersed themselves in the local community. Despite being retired, they continue to be adventurous, and love to tour with their Piaggio scooter. They travelled by scooter from Belmonte to a wedding in Bosnia/Herzegovina and like to explore Calabria and Sicily by scooter instead of using a car. When in Belmonte, Pia and Tom love to be outside tending the garden and pruning the many fruit, nut, berry and olive trees. They understand the importance of sustainability and make every effort to minimize their impact on nature. Reading, cycling, hiking, music and lazy days on the beach fill the rest of the program. And, oh yes, baking bread and pizzas in their wood-fired oven is also a passion. They are always ready to teach guests how to use the oven which, given its immense size, is quite an operation! While Pia and Tom understand and respect the fact that some guests want privacy, they are also very open to sharing a bottle of wine with guests while enjoying the view over the Tyrrhenian.
