Indulge in delicious Balinese food in our restaurant and take a dip in our lovely pool. We organise many activities such as climbs, snorkelling, trips to beaches and temples etc. Please also check out my other listings (family room etc) to find your perfect room! The BEST and UNHINDERED views of majestic Mount Agung! Please note the picture shows you two villas (an upper and a ground-floor unit); this reservation is for the TOP unit only, which feature one king-size double bed. It has a bathroom at the back and a lovely balcony at the front, from where you can enjoy unhindered views of beautiful Mt Agung. Please select my other listing, DELUXE FAMILY VILLA, if you'd like to hire the entire unit (top and bottom). Rooms are connected by outside stairs only, so if you are travelling with young children I would recommend you select one of our groundfloor rooms instead.

This place is one of the best in Sideman! They location is just perfect with amazing views of the mountains and rice fields. Great sunrise and sunset. But the best of all is the staff. They are so kind and helpful! Anyone planning of visiting Sideman should definitely stay here. I loved it!!
Gut war der Blick auf den Berg. Wirklich wunderschön. Das Essen sehr lecker. Die Bedingungen im Restaurant waren total freundlich und herzliche. Daher tut es Leid abgesehen davon eine schlechte Bewertung zu geben. Die Zimmer sind extrem einfach und ungepflegt, wie man es von einem einfachen Backpacker Hostel für 15 Euro die Nacht erwarten würde. Leider dazu noch schlecht gereinigt, Dreck und Staub überall. Die Betten stinken oll. Die Türen schließen nicht. Es gibt 3 cm große Lücken durch die alles mögliche Getier ins Zimmer kommt. In der Beschreibung steht, es würden Ausflüge organisiert, als wir fragten wurden wir nur irritiert angeschaut. Generell spricht kaum jemand English. Wir sind früher abgereist weil wir die Hygienischen Probleme unsere kleinen Tochter nicht weiter zumuten wollten. Unterkünfte in Ubud in der gleichen Preisklasse sind so extrem viel besser, dass ich es im Nachhinein fast unverschämt finde was dort geboten wird. Wirklich lieb waren aber die Frauen, die im Restaurant arbeiten und tolles Essen zubereiten. Als Ausflug zum Essen und den Blick zu genießen sehr empfehlenswert

Great place to stay outside of Sidemen. Lovely views of Mount Agung when the skies are clear and friendly staff to help you out. We slept well with the quiet. Sidemen has already changed with many more villas so this Airbnb is nice because it is set away from the main tourist area. You will need a motorbike or driver to get around (Grab ride app doesn’t have drivers that respond, at least during the week we were there).

WHAT WE ARE AND AIM TO BE
Great Mountain Views represents the coming together of a Balinese couple (Nyoman and Wayan) and an English-Dutch couple (Paul and Clare), who share the same dream: running a resort that offers its guests a unique and genuine experience of East Bali’s stunning natural beauty and exciting culture. Our resort is modelled on our own ideas of the perfect holiday location. We love the energy of the place and the fabulous mountain views that GMV offers. We try to highlight the natural surroundings while at the same time making sure our guests are comfortable and happy. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and serve delicious food, which includes produce from our own, organic garden. GMV is a great place to engage with the local population and to experience genuine Balinese culture at its best.
GMV was the first resort built in this area, and we still offer the best (and, at times, truly sensational) views, especially of Mt Agung. There is nothing more magical in our opinion than sitting facing the rice fields and suddenly, as if out of thin air, seeing the majestic mountain appear. Of course we cannot guarantee that you will see the mountain (that depends on several factors, among them the weather), but your best chance of getting a clear view is at around 6:00 am in the morning.
Our aim at GMV is to give travellers an authentic experience of rural Balinese life in a resort that blends in with the natural environment. In our effort to create an alternative to Western-style, artificial environments, shut off from nature, we believe we have found a way to showcase the beauty of the Balinese landscape in a way that gives our guests a more genuine idea of what it feels like to live in the Balinese countryside. The ever-changing, beautiful Mount Agung is one of Bali’s most sacred mountains; it houses, among others, the famous Besakih temple complex. This fairy-tale backdrop, and the strong presence of the mountain, reminds us all of the power of nature. It serves as a reminder that we should ‘live with nature’ and not set ourselves apart from it.

Hello, we are Paul and Clare (Klarijn), an English-Dutch couple who share a passion for the Balinese people and culture, as well as for good food, music, spiritual growth, & adventure. Clare is an Indonesian-language teacher who grew up in the Netherlands and holds a PhD in Indonesian Studies; she spent several years in Indonesia for her studies and for leisure. Paul is an English businessman who has specialised within the construction industry. Following on from Paul's first visit to Bali our love for the island and its people blossomed, which over years resulted in the development of Great Mountain Views Villa Resort. Currently we are based in the UK, but we try to visit Bali as much as we can! In the future we are hoping to divide our time between the Netherlands, the UK and beautiful Bali. We love this island and have been running our small resort in Duda, Selat, Karangasem for the past 14 years (!), including through the pandemic, together with our wonderful friends and local hosts, Resort Manager Nyoman and Chef Wayan. GMV reflects our own ideas about what holidaying should be all about: a beautiful location; exciting and restful activities on your doorstep; unparalleled and genuine customer service; good food; and spectacular views. We aim to continuously develop the resort with respect for the local population and environment and for Balinese culture. We try to do everything in our power to offer visitors a brilliant, tailor-made and out-of-the-ordinary holiday experience. Judging from our guests' feedback, which we highly appreciate, we have succeeded in creating a little 'hidden gem' in Bali's mountainous interior.
