For such a tiny room, that was very very outdated- and not in a cute way, the stay was greatly overpriced. The main lodge living room was nice enough. However this place is in need for a major remodel to be charging these prices.

What a fantastic stay this was. We chose this place for our first anniversary. Upon arrival, we met the extremely conscientious and accommodating staff. We mentioned we'd be hiking a local mountain. In our room, we found complimentary cookies, cake, small bottle of wine, a congratulations card, and information about the hike. Every single person we interacted with was helpful and polite. The offered snacks in the afternoon, full hot breakfast, a very delicious dinner, a well-stocked bar, and pleasing atmosphere to enjoy it in. It was very impressive. The property itself is very well kept, especially for the age and environment. Very nice rooms with just the right amount of decor without going overboard to the point of kitsch. The grounds were very well maintained. Downtown Julian is definitely within walking distance for the average person. The area has extensive hike options, wine options, cider (of course), apple pie (of course!), as well as being a true old mining town; not like the after-the-fact attempt to be rustic that many small towns attempt to portray. If I have my way, this could be a traditional destination for our anniversary celebrations.

Our stay at Orchard Hill Country Inn surpassed all expectations. The gorgeous lodge and grounds, managed by incredibly friendly staff, located right in the heart of the historical district, make it far and away the ideal place to stay when visiting Julian. Before we left we knew we will be coming back, and we can’t wait until our next stay.

This was a fabulous find. Wonderful staff, caring owners, beautiful setting. Food was divine. Wine offering sourced from local wineries.
