Sykes are managing the property on behalf of the owners. However, Sykes are only responsible for securing the booking (which is done through AirBnB anyway). Any further arrangements such as acquiring the key, being let in or further inquiries are being negotiated directly with the owners. Unlike the spirit of the majority of owners I have had the pleasure of dealing with, Sykes (acting on the owners' behalf) are purely in it for the money. You are only allowed to cancel for a very brief period and if you do, you are only entitled to half of what you have paid. If you want to cancel part of your stay you are not entitled to any refund, you just lose your money. The owners of this Annex were lovely people, very helpful and friendly, and their place is beautiful and comfortable. I advised them to consider managing their bookings directly.
