This place was absolutely beautiful, digital detox was the perfect way to really absorb the beauty of the jungle. 3 meals a day were amazing and very fulfilling. Definitely recommend this place to those looking to fully relax and disconnect from society. The people that live there are very friendly and welcoming. I will be returning in the near future. Truly a life changing experience. Thank you ❤️

It’s hard to write a standard Airbnb review of Novalis as it’s just such a unique life experience! My husband and I are city slickers who had never been to the jungle before, so first and foremost - if that’s you, just go! You’ll be ok! Juan, Cassandra and Farhana went above and beyond to make sure that there was no detail we had to worry about. Everything was taken care of - from the long email exchange prior with all our pesky questions, to the transit in, to helping us get covid tests for our departure (and much more). Not to mention the great conversation. We’re so grateful to this team of genuine, caring people. In terms of the accomodation - it’s a really beautiful experience staying in the treehouse and hearing the jungle symphony. There are inevitably bugs around, but we came in thinking we’d be eaten alive and it was a lot less than expected. The outdoor shower was a beautiful experience, compost toilets were clean and odour free (they’ve done a great job!). Food was wonderfully simple, nourishing and grounding. And finally - the ceremony in the maloka, what a unique life experience. We’ll remember it forever. Special thanks to Loyver, Juan and Yuri for holding a beautiful, gentle space for our group. And to Farhana for the magical agua de floras afterwards! Things to be aware of if you’re not already; there’s no electricity so pack your head torch for walking at night. Pack a towel and flip flops. Be aware that there’s a walk in from the boat - it has a small steep part, but should be ok for most fitness levels. I could say so much more but to keep it short - I’d say just go!

Very kind and generous hosts! We’re more than helpful with taxis, transportation and communication. Novalis is an amazing place to visit! Delicious food is served 3 times a day which is included in your nightly price. So much love and hard work has gone into creating this tranquil spot in the jungle. I will definitely be back with friends! Highly recommended.

I had an incredible 10 days at Novalis. The place is the perfect refuge for inner work or just a relaxing stay. They have everything you would want for that... a library, a yoga/meditation hut and a beautiful garden. Not to mention the endless forest around Novalis. The food is vegetarian/vegan and super super delicious. Dionny’s meals seriously never disappoint! So glad I chose to stay there. Definitely will come back!

GOOD: Preserving jungle unlike neighbours whose cows, sheep have turned lush biodiversity into wasteland. Sustainably profiting from nature's bounty by collecting Brazil nuts and medicinal herbs. Offering good and plentiful meat free wheat free meals. Treehouse is sturdy with huge tree in middle and bed netting is secure. Remote jungle setting wonderful. BAD VIBES Had no idea most guests come to do ayahuasca, San Pedro, DMTshrooms (what a bonus to have neighbours with open cow and sheep pasture where magic mushrooms grow!). Maybe I should have clued in when they did not want to accept my 8 nite reservation, saying a few nites should be enough for me. That I'd be better off at Sandoval lake or a clay lick. !Don't be coy, be upfront about the drugs! I would never have stayed there had I known and should not have. I do not smoke or go to bars. Host Juan told me day 1 of my 4 nite stay I was not ready for ayahuasca No kidding!! Sooo I am very fuzzy headed in treehouse. Sleep in past 10 first morn when since Costa Rican howler monkeys I am up by 4:30 am (over 7 weeks that way, back on that schedule now too for over ten days) and then cannot really wake up. Feel energy being sucked out of me. Impossible to meditate or do my whole body breath relaxation inside treehouse without being put to sleep. BUT in jungle or by creek meditation is wonderful and powerful. Never even looked in their meditation pavilion, knowing not my jig, but one nite at dusk when passing by enroute to getting my headlamp from treehouse a 6' red, yellow, white and black ringed snake lunged at me in the middle of the path. When I stopped my retreat to ID its colours remembering the saw, "red on white you're all right, red on yella sorry fella' the snake left the path and started racing at me thru the jungle underbrush alongside the path. Aside from hummers, plus puma and tapir pawprints, that snake was the only animal I saw during my stay. Too many hunters with 3 native tribes around Juan said. I just wanted to relax and breathe amongst trees after 16 intense days of hiking and touring high alt Cuzco. I did not want to feel to square or not with it to trip out. I am trying so hard to focus my mind (3 decades meditation) and wake up in this world of lies and buried truths. Thanks to Miudfossil U. I now see the turtle looking at the elephant mt in Machu Picchu, the petrified giant snake at Sacsayhuaman, the catfish that is Taquila... SMH that it is not seen by others, is not famous or written about. I am a scientist I do not want to argue with a host trained as lawyer about multiple realities. The giant fossils are everywhere in Peru. That blows my mind. My last nite there before dinner the little girl of one of the 'shamans in training's that I had played with a bit came up to me, made guttural meowing sounds (a dig at my 3 decade dream received mantra), pissed all over the floor by the dining table, and walked away. I got up to fill a jug of water to wash the urine away and no sooner than you could say Abra Cadavre I was stricken with a stabbing pain in my right kidney and a need to pee every few hours. That nite I could NOT sleep, nor the next at the $250/nite jungle camp I had booked partly at suggestion of the treehouse hosts. I could not keep my eyes open on the sightseeing boat rides. It was malicious black magic using a 3-4 year old child as conduit. Thanks to yoga techniques, acupressure, and iodide (that I had shared with the host and cook's dogs for deworming) I was able to shake it. Not my first rodeo. If I had not been helped long distance by a mostly native meditation group feeding me energy the blanks that call themselves yogis or gods would have killed me at Mt Kailash Oct 94. This now overweight (came back 90 pounds from India) middle aged Canadian whose been labelled illiterate at grad school and incompetent by medical experts is seen as a real threat to some very bad entities. Should I be glad I met another challenge? Yes. But O also feel bad that I tried to be nice, sharing my meds with the dogs, playing nut marbles with a bored little girl, making 3 veg dishes when the cook was gone to vote, planting a few garden beds for the host. I had such fun mixing different ferns, caladium, praying hands, wandering jew, black taro but I got wasp stings. And then to be in such pain New level of awful. 'Sorry you did not get what you were looking for from us.' is how host Juan greeted me the last morning. Just wanted a bit of R&R in nature but got another spiritual battle royale. Well this 'bastard' is not stopping. Game on! This is my truth. I care not that models, starlets, rock stars love it here. Let em. AMEN ATEN
