Welcome to Bunæs, our historic Alta farm. Enjoy the northern lights or midnight sun on fjord, river, cliffs, skiing, & mountain hikes. In summer, we recommend collecting river stones, chatting with locals, and checking out nearby archaeological sites. In winter, Sarves ski hill is only five minutes away and our local waterfalls are frozen-spectacular. Whatever season, it’s nice to relax with a coffee in a well-appointed home. We call this “our cozy place,” and we hope you’ll make it yours, too! This house was built just after the war and has been lovingly refurbished. It is a solid Norwegian building with electric panel heating, new appliances, and three very cozy beds. It has no TV and three gas lamps in the place of an indoor fireplace (outdoor stone fire pit is awesome!). One bedroom has a private study attached to it which holds a fold-out couch for guests. All new sheets, towels, fluffy guest robes, and lots of natural light. Welcome!

Sophia è un host fantastica! Io e i miei amici ci siamo trovati benissimo a soggiornare qui, la casa è stupenda, molto spaziosa e funzionale. Sophia è stata fin da subito cordiale e disponibile ad aiutarci. Ci siamo sentiti come a casa. Ideale per chi si sposta in macchina, consiglio vivamente!

Die Unterkunft von Sophia ist richtig gemütlich. Große und gut sortierte Küche sowie großes Wohn/Esszimmer. Es macht Spaß dort im Winter zu verweilen. Wir waren leider nur eine Nacht dort, da wir auf der Durchreise waren. Danke an Sophia, dass wie bei ihr übernachten durften 😊
Wir waren eine Nacht in dem Haus von Sophia in der Nähe von Alta. Bis Alta braucht man etwa zehn Minuten mit dem Auto. Der nächste Ort ist aber mit kleinen Geschäften zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das Haus ist sehr schön, liebevoll und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Kommunikation mit Sophia lief super. Klare Empfehlung für diese schöne Unterkunft!

While the city makes claims to modernity, nearby Rafsbotn/Reaššavuotna is “real” Norway, rural and friendly. You can easily make friends here and the opportunities for exploring the natural world are unparalleled.
You will likely bike or rent a car during your stay in Alta; the city transit system is unreliable in its outer edges, especially on this side of the fjord. Parking is abundant. :)

I'm a therapist and media professional, and travel often with my two kids (ages 7 and 5) and my husband, a physicist. We live in Oslo! I love nothing more than meeting new people, except maybe seeing new art. My favorite travel destination: Galle. It's a city built around a 16th Century Dutch fort on the South Western coast of Sri Lanka. It's full of all this incredible crumbling art deco architecture. I lost my MIND with how beautiful it was when I went there. I had stupidly left my camera at my friend's house, so I purchased a disposable camera and took a lot of photos that came out terrible. C'est la vie.
