One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.. and Ms Claudia was sooo wonderful.

Communication was a bit problematic because I didn't get a timely response when I requested booking. I didn't realize at the time the chain of people involved: the owner was in the U.K.; there are two locals tasked with villa upkeep and hosting guests - housekeeper named Claudia and gardener/caretaker named Kalin that lives on-site; and my Airbnb liaison was a woman named Gemma. I was not provided address of the property. All I knew was that it was in Pond Casse, sufficiently small town that locals were able direct us to Harmony Villa. We arrived almost sunset and were informed the electricity was out (wide outage due to downed lines caused by storm). The listing indicated welcome with "drink, dinner and hearty breakfast" so when Gemma had asked if we wanted dinner upon arrival I said yes. I had asked to verify if stay included breakfast and dinner but no response to that question so I assumed fine as per listing. Kalin prepared our first night's dinner in the dark by candlelight. The lights did come back on later that night. The villa is very nicely appointed and located amidst lush tropical rainforest. We were sole guests. The room is spacious and charming. There are shutters that have spaces allowing open air and breeze; downside is heavy rain and strong winds quite loud and we had to use ear plugs help us sleep. Breakfast was coffee/tea, juice, yogurt and granola, toast, and plate 1 fried egg, 2 bacon slices, and little sauteed tomatoes. We enjoyed first night's stay so we opted to stay 2nd night. Again, we requested dinner. Villa is in small town quite a detour from all sites except near emerald pool and there aren't nearby dining options. Dinner was spinach soup, chicken stew curry, veggies and rice - very good meal prepared in advance by Claudia and warmed up by Kalin. Next morning exact same breakfast as prior day and then to our great surprise we were presented bill of over $140 for dinners and breakfast supplement. The extra charges for dinner I could stomach but what was outrageous was $10 per person per day (+ 15% VAT and 10% service charge on top) "hot" breakfast supplement. We were informed after the fact that stay only included continental breakfast. So, basically a stay that started out pretty well ended on a very sour note. If you do stay at villa I would caution to be completely clear in beginning before booking regarding costs and what is or isn't included. It just comes across as disingenuous when you advertise hearty breakfast and then charge supplement. I think they are new to listing on Airbnb (mostly use booking.com) so I'm sure with feedback and experience improvements will be made. It is a lovely home and if you want seclusion in beautiful setting harmony villa may very well suit. May also be good option if proximity to airport is an objective. But for proximity to attractions in Morne Trois...
